Hi! I'm Marilyn. Really glad to rediscover this site and like minded persons. :) 1. Jesus Christ is the "truth" not a religious group. 2. Jesus said eat the bread and drink the wine. WTB&TS says don't. Only a special group referred to in a vision is to partake. I think Jesus is correct. 3. No where in scripture does it say maintain your time preaching. 4. The NWT is twisted and "someone" is going to have to answer for that one day. 5. It amazing how JW say read your Bible, yet they read the Watchtower which uses proof texts. I will stop otherwise this is like that song that will never end. M

What are some personal truths you now believe in after leaving the WT?
by lovelylil inthese are things i hold as personally true for me:.
1) there is no religion today that has the only truth about god.
2) the bible contains truths for christians but other religions have books that contain truth for them.

I become addicted to message boards and have to check them daily or I just keep wondering about what was posted and will move to page 2 before I get back.
I seldom if ever check page 2 on a board.

Do You Love Yourself???
by minimus ini believe that before you can love another, you must love yourself first.
some seem to loathe themselves.
others seem to adore themselves.

I hope I'm not to late and he hasn't came and gone but ask him the following question for me - my mom's CO was suddenly running late and had to go.................
Jesus told the apostles to keep partaking of the bread and wine. Everyone partook except Judas. There is another reference in scripture to a "GROUP' partaking - everyone partook. Where is the Bible are there observers of others taking of the bread and wine. 144K.isn't relative, that's another subject. Where is anyone told, or just got dressed, to go and watch the passing of the bread and wine? The way I read scripture they either partook or stayed home.If Jesus said do it and you don't are you disobident? Is saying the "Society" told me not to partake good enough for the day we stand before the Lord since Jesus said do it? No, 144K talk now........

I'm new to the boards, so I want to say hello first.
When I hear apostate, I just want to scream. Because someone leaves the JW organization why do they have to be "labeled" by the organization? I never went on a Bible study where the householder wasn't told to examine their religion against scripture, yet if you examine JW doctrine against scripture and find it lacking then you're an apostate. Oh yeah that's right.JW's aren't to examine their religion just Batpist and Catholics and Mormans - oh my! No, I never left Jehovah nor His son; I left the organization. I did as I was told, I examined scripture and found that the KJV or NIV didn't support what was being taught. Like referring to the organization as "The Truth". Jesus said he ways the Truth and the Way. So is the organization Jesus? Sort of reminds me of the Trinity. Hummm.......no wonder they stopped making shepherd calls on me.
I know what you mean about heart pounding and feeling guilty. The first time I entered a Christian BOOKSTORE I almost hyperventilated, it was even worse the first time I visited a church. M

I have to agree that #1 is the same as a previous poster, not being able to openly question nonscriptual doctrine - even in my own head. Thinking it was something lacking on my part because I thought something about the "Memorial" wasn't quite right. #2 Being discouraged from going to college because time was toooo short (1972) and thinking my non JW dad non was a heathen because he wanted me to go!!!! I finally got my degree in 2001! M

Remnants of JWism
by berylblue infor me, i don't have "remnants".
i am still, i realize, about 90 percent jw.. however, i'm curious as to what other still have "left" from the org...for example, i am still politically neutral for the most part, and would not support any war and would rather die than take up arms.
this may be mostly my own pre-jw personality, but at this point in time, its so difficult to know what i am, even who i am..... do any of you still have (or maybe cling to, which may be true in my case) jw beliefs or tendencies, or have you gotten rid of them all?

Hi! I'm new to the boards. Tried to post and introduction but I'm not sure if it's made it. I would said I have maintained a high moral standard, but now it's based on trying to be a follower of Christ rather than being scared of being DF. M

Hi I'm Marilyn!
I just found this board today via a link from Randy at Free Minds. Yea! I was raised as a JW and baptised in 1971. I drifted away and about 1995 I decided to go back. I read a thread on Progidy (before AOL) and argued with a man about what he was saying about JWs. He lead me to sites that truly opened my eyes. I set in shock for days. I started asking questions of JWs and I got a lot of yada, yada. My mother and stepfather (elder) are JWs. They are both cool and have "talked" to me but since they can't answer my questions and have sent overseers, elders and you name it over and no one can answer the question they basically let me be; a smart &^% circuit overseer offended my mom but made me laugh when he basically said he didn't have time to talk to lowly me. Anywho....
I talk a lot so I wanted to say hi before I jumped in. M
