It's become a habit for me to say a brief thank you before eating.

Another mega-church in the Philippines, the Iglesia ni Christo is drawing criticisms due to their alleged refusal to provide shelter to the people knocking on their gates during the typhoon.
Now, what do you think would WTS do in this situation?
I think the WTS would do the very same thing and proclaim later on that they were the only ones saved by God.
Meanwhile, we saw videos of the typhoon's devastating power from inside a Catholic church. Why? Because everyone was let in--including the TV news reporters that couldn't hold back their tears sharing what they saw (shown in the video link below).

Emergency relief fund for the Philippines. How will it work.
by joe134cd ini was just thinking it will be interesting to see how the wts emergency relief fund will operate in the philippines.
ok it worked well with the storm in florida, with cashing in on the insurance cheques.
sorry to generalize, but americans have the disposable income, and the insurance polices for things like this - a thing the wtbts finds very attractive.

There is a story about another church in the Philippines whose building withstood the typhoon but refused to shelter ALL people who are not members of their church.
I think the WTS would do the very same thing and proclaim later on that they were the only ones saved by God.

A new start? Watchtower renaming at HQ Columbia Heights
by Gorbatchov infriends,.
who was in any doubt that our jw believe is a marketing model, see this pictures of the still existing hq of jw at columbia heights.. earlier comments on jwn that something is going to change in the organisation, these comments are true.. in a few years we will not talk about the watchtower society, we wil talk about jw.org.
i think the current leadership will make a transfer to a new start.

So proud to be part of an international "brotherhood"
by ohnightdivine in.... but doesn't even care about the "lowly ones" in the congregation.
i think it's part of human nature to be interested in meeting people from other lands.
in our case, it's the international assemblies.

I think it's part of human nature to be interested in meeting people from other lands. In our case, it's the international assemblies. These same people who are so enthusiastic in making new "friends" from other countries are the same ones who don't give a **** about the fellows in the congregation-- the lowly ones. Sick ones. The ones not earning a lot.
Just an observation.

Why doesn't the GB come out with specific rules on counting time
by trujw ini think we all know the reason millions of less hours.
when i was in we went to a rv by the kingdom hall then drove 30 minutes out to the country to knock on a door then back to the city for one more door.
god must be so proud!

Before I learned TTATT I was already uncomfortable with the practice of time-keeping. Heck, even when I was still a "Bible study" I could feel one of the conductors looking at her watch anxiously and abruptly ending the session as soon as she made 1 full hour. (Of course despite that incident among many others, I still got baptized.)
Fast forward to yesterday, it cannot be denied that most pioneers just try to stretch everything just to get their time in. Letter writing at Dunkin Donuts? Sip your coffee slowly for 2 hours. Chat with the group and share stories. Laugh about petty things. Talk about the latest talent show (yes, of course they still are updated with TV!). Talk about the sister's new hair, another one's latest travel experience. At the end of 2 hours, give a total of 5 letters (index cards) to the elder. Sure, everything's a breeze...

While out "preaching"...
by ohnightdivine ini've been missing a lot of meetings and field service so i had no choice but to join the group yesterday so that i won't raise all red flags with them.
this happened yesterday and thought i'd share this short experience.. the sister i was with wanted so much to practice her spiel and fluency in our language and asked me to act as a householder.
i wasn't interested at all, but, she's older by more than 10 years so.... i had to play along.

I never really was a studious witness and didn't think much about arguing intelligently with her. She didn't know that I just couldn't care less about the whole thing..
