Ya know, it is interesting how people say that pioneering was "a waste of time". I pioneered on & off for maybe two years total. I had a lot of fun (met my wife that way & now we are both out). I had some pretty good friends (that actually still speak to me to this day even though I am not a JW anymore). We would go out "early morning witnessing" with my buddies and drive around, shooting the breeze and striking up conversations, usually ending the morning with a breakfast burrito. I was never really an "organization man", so I viewed it as social time. But yeah, the door to door? That was slow death. I can see how people view that time as wasted. But, it is part of your journey! You wouldn't be the person you are today if you had not knocked on all those doors. It is common for people in their mid-years to think "man I wasted a lot of time on X". It isn't just for ex-JWs.

How many of you remember the "Pioneer Shuffle " and the special "time reporting" of pioneers?
by Foolednomore ini started pioneering in my late teens an remember how slow pioneers would walk to the doors while out in circus.
also, they would not really talk to anybody at all.
they would start their time as soon as they got dressed an out the door, while us regular shucks started our time at the first door we knocked at.

45 Minute Bethel Video about Changes (downsizing) at Watchtower
by OnTheWayOut ini don't see this posted elsewhere, and i don't have the links besides this facebook one.. but here is a 45-minute long bethel talk about the changes at bethel including addressing the hard feelings of people who were given the axe.
basically, everything must change.
we gave remaining bethelites saturday off to do our bidding in "the field" and we give bethelites over 70 an extra day a week off (if you can find any such bethelites).

All the men/women full time at Bethel are reliant upon continuing financial support from the members!
Think about it: They think they are in such an amazing position, yet it all banks upon the WT bankrolling them.
Communists. Get a real job.

Oh my, they are so deluded. You can tell the way he talks that they think Bethel is all there is of importance of the world. -

Merry Christmas!
by lambsbottom inwow, 4 years!
it has been a real journey.
going from a devout jw, to having a close call with a loved one possibly needing a transfusion, to researching the heck out of everything, to letting it rest and go back to sleep for a while, to moving states and almost going crazy knowing all the bs they were speaking from the platform.

It has been over 4 years since I started reading/posting on this forum. Wow, 4 years! It has been a real journey.

Leaving was the best choice of my life, apart from my beautiful wife. I am almost in tears writing this. This forum is one of the top things/people I can thank for support. You answered any question, you cared, you were patient and kind. You were fair and reasonable, and I couldn't dismiss you as "mentally diseased" apostates. You helped me remove the blinding influence of the WT and clear the cobwebs from my brain.
I reconciled with my DF'd mom and now she understands TTATT. I am slowly becoming closer with my DF'd sister (though that is really going slow). Life is simple now. I still get scared sometimes and don't know which way to go. But, I rely on my support structure and God, and know that I just have to make today a good day. One day at a time.
I have a beautiful, supportive wife and three amazing kids. I'm 31, am in good health, have a few amazing friends, and have some great family. I am truly grateful for all that I have, including you all.
Thanks for being here,

CEDARS (Again) Is it really about religious beliefs?
by Listener injohn cedars has posted his latest blog "the trouble with apostates (and why it shouldn't put you off becoming one)".
i acknowledge that he is entitled to his opionin just as we are ours but i am disappointed in some of his comments.. at this stage i'll try to be objective about it.
he is defending his own position after all.. what bothers me most is his comments about athiests and christians which he seems to identify as being in conflict with each other.
