Head covering of women - Yet another male chauvinistic tradition created by ancient nomads. Name a religion that does not dishonor women. Yet, women play a major part in all religions.

Are Witnesses TRULY Honest, Humble and Hungry? (The 3 H's)
by stuckinarut2 inhow many times did we hear the worn out expression "that anyone who accepts the "truth" needs to have the 3 h's".
yes, they must be "honest hearted.
hungry for truth, and humble enough to accept that they need to change".

This is what I was told by some over Zealot JWs when I was in.
Persons with 3H will accept the Kingdom message.
Persons with any or all of the 3H missing will reject the Kingdom message.
So dont you worry if the majority of people reject our message coz they lag in the 3Hs

Contrast Jesus and Einstein
by venus injesus did not use his (superhuman) skills to prove the existence of either god or immortality of soul.
further, he did not answer direct, important questions put to him (mathew 21:23-27; luke 22:70 …), and most importantly never defined ego—the root cause of all problems ….
however, einstein, whose business was not spirituality, still defined ego as “optical illusion of consciousness.” this definition helps a lot because when one internalizes the idea that ego is only an illusion, he knows how to effectively deal with it.. .

Thanks for this quote - something to ponder upon. Googling >> Einstein said : "Our separation from each other is an Optical illusion of Consciousness."
Einstein discovered the theory of relativity which are widely used in our GPS systems, making life so easy now
Jesus said, "I am the way ......." but isn't worth a dime.

Jehovah's Witnesses act like 'Flirts' with people!
by stuckinarut2 inwe were just musing that jws act in a "flirtatious" manner with people in the community.. they show such "sincere" interest in people when they call.
they seem like such kind, caring and thoughtful people - really interested in their lives and welfare.. people are often quite impressed with the jws manner, and their well dressed presentation.
people (especially vulnerable ones who are going through difficult pressures in life), are drawn in and made to feel special by the witnesses as they call back.. return visits take place.

JW love is Switch ON/OFF love.
If you slave for WT >> Switch on Love.
If you rebel against WT >> Switch off Love.
As simple as that.

What "Rules" Did The Elders In Your KH Make?
by minimus insome congregations were known as liberal and others were considered very conservative.
back in the 1970s a nearby congregation made all speakers who gave public talks a white shirt to wear.
if a speaker came in wearing anything but white they were brought into the library and were given a white shirt!

When I was in the "Bible Study" - Unbaptized - I attended their convention for the first time. The BS elder saw my Unshaved face ,was quite upset and advised me to come clean shaved for their meetings. I should have recognized their cult control early then, only if I had the common sense I have now.

What made you stay "in" even when you knew it wasn't the "truth"?
by mentalclarity inso i've been thinking a lot about why i stayed a jw for so long even though i had always had doubts about the doctrines.
i was born into the religion, left and came back as an adult for another decade.
some of the things that come to mind (besides the threat of shunning-and this isn't to minimize that very real threat) was:.

I remained in for almost a year just to make sure that this JW religion is 100% false and the Bible is 200% nonsense.

What is behind your choice of forum user name?
by stuckinarut2 injust curious how we all think.. what prompted or influenced your choice of username for this forum?.
there are some really amazing names, and it would be great to hear the stories behind them.... mine was nothing fancy.
i just felt "stuck in a rut too" along with so many others.

When I started to question the WT about its true history, my so called JW friends(All from India) started to shun me with name calling as "Apostate". They invited me and my wife for a dinner in an elder's home, of around 20 JW people. After dinner, Two of the elders took me to the basement and asked me straight at the face that whether I want to remain as JW or not. If not, they demanded me to write a letter of disassociation. Also, they said that they can never have me as a friend anymore, and that I should leave their home the next morning, after a sleepover. They said they never wanted to dine in the table of demon. My wife and I immediately left, both sobbing, since they had been our “Dear” friends for quite a while. Been a very bitter experience, but it proved their cultish attitude.
A year later, I wrote a letter of disassociation just to prove that I am breaking myself away from this cult and that I’m not afraid of losing my eternal life prospects, or any other nonsense.
Since then, I made a fair research on most of the religions and came to know that they are all scams. I chose my name as “EverApostate” since I am so confident that no religion can fool me again in my life.

Do you think the general public cares about former Jehovah's witnesses?
by Christian Gutierrez ini was wondering if you guys think if the general public cares about our stories or if they even care what the watchtower does to people??
?.

Why would they, unless they have some close relative/Friends in the cult. Everyone has enough in their lives to think upon.

Why "... when it does touch on scientific matters [the Bible] is accurate" is bogus BS.
by Island Man injws and other christians would often point to the handful of the bible verses that seem to be scientifically accurate as evidence of its divine inspiration.
but not surprisingly, they ignore the ones that are scientifically inaccurate, or when they address those verses they put a spin on it like saying the account is not a reflection of what the bible is teaching but what men at the time erroneously believed and which god allowed them to record in the bible.
would you believe a jw actually told me that!

Jehovah thinks its more important to provide statistics and details of gruesome murder and slaughter than to provide information about microbial pathogens and viruses.
