i noticed in the bible reading in titus this week that that they changed one instance of christ jesus to jesus christ.
it made me wonder why it was done and what benefit it could have in their doctrines..

Indeed, it would be Jesus the Christ (Greek) as he was the anointed, similarly it would be Yahusha haMashiach (Hebrew). So Christ Jesus would be similar to him being The anointed, named Jesus. Also similar to King James, or James the King (of England).
i find it ridiculous when people say that about ipads, but not android tablets or kindles on stage.
especially since one third of our cong uses ipads at the meetings and on stage.
it seems like they think apple tablets are pagan.
Simply a modesty thing. An eReader is more than sufficient for literature (reading and singing). If more power is needed, then a simple Android-based tablet (I guess for editing and marking files). The iPad 2 is far too expensive, both as a brand name and for what is necessary at meetings.
Using an Apple iPad 2 is showing off and would stumble others (that have less means) since one could be pride-like in using it. That and "If they could afford an iPad 2 they can afford better clothes or more $$ in the collection box." Now getting a good deal on an iPad (1) show good sense.
according to the watch tower society, ahaziah (of judah) reigned for a single year, in 906bce.
the watch tower society also claims that judah and israel both used nisan-based dating for the start of reigns.. according to 2 kings 9:29, ahaziah's reign began in the 11th year of jehoram (of israel).
of course, if judah and israel were both using nisan-based dating, ahaziah's single year of reign couldn't have started in both years.
Most reigns start in the civil year (fall, as in 6 months after the scriptural year). The months before generally don't count and is called the ascension period.

From briefly reading it sounds like they are taking a passive voice to retain the name Jehovah.
Since more and more groups are using Yahuah (or Yahuwah), Yahwey (preferred by scholars), or similar names the JWorg could be clinging onto the convenient name Jehovah and not the more accurate name. It is odd for an organization that claims to attain to more accurate knowledge.
And if they go more electronic (and print local or use tablets) they could save on publishing for it they one day (as in very soon) use the more accurate sacred names. Alas would be a flip-flop for their rNWT of 2013 (since corrected).
why do we have assemblies?
was the topic of the book/brochure study last week.. the answer not presented is that they are the organization's black friday.
stores do black friday as a loss leader to get people into the stores to spend money on more pricey stuff, not discounted.. assemblies are put on to give away books and other literature and have dramas to get people in to donate and contribute more than normally done.. yes, religion is a business.
As Blondie posted, it seems to be a substitution for the 7 appointed times in the Scriptures. Granted, during the early years there may have been a connection (as in they were 5 days or longer, possibly a few at the same time as Feast of Tabernacles).
More so, today, to hype of releasing new literature (or the recent "Silver Sword"/"sister proof" RNWT). Also hype time toward baptisms, meeting others, and getting all "dignified" dressed with dry cleaned clothes.
Still it comes down to $$, as in a goal of contributions > true cost of the assembly. And good PR for bringing business to the city.
some years ago, we had this difficult bible study with a guy who was unofficially a witness for about 40 years, yet he would never make the step of becoming an unbaptized publisher.
we pushed him at some point to tell us the reason, and the reason was this: he didn't agree with the field reports practice.
he said he did a lot of preaching by himself but didn't see any reason to report it to the congregation.. of course, we told him that the reason we hand in field reports is so that we have statistics, and know how much work is done worldwide and bla-bla-blah.
Becaue the all knowing, all powerful Almighty Yahuah needs His "chosen" people to track their hours, and a group to tabulate all the numbers to produce reports for Him? Of course that tabulating group has a vital responsibility to their spreadsheets and walking the streets.
i for one would be very interested , if you can quantify what his acheivements have been , these past almost 100 years .. incidental acheivements could do for a start ,.
followed by more meaningfull acheivements ,.
then to top it off , with his major acheivements that he can be accredited with these past 99 years of his kingdom rule ,.
Well, the JWorg through their publishing arm has distributed Bibles to various lands in their native languages. Granted, nearly 100% of them at the "cost" of indirect mind control by the JWorg from the ministers.
Else, under the Greek Jesus (the) Christ, the JWorg has taken sincere, Bible believing people away from the Hebrew faith (from the Scriptures), as in the Torah, Sabbath, etc. Thus replacing Yahusha and His Father Yahuah, both with poorly created English names.

i don't know why i download an illegal copy every year - probably so i can take the mick...... all i can find is an italian version - the only italian i can speak is on the menu at our local restaurant......
There likely won't be one as they are having a new research tool online as of 1 January 2014. If anything, they likely will have it download only and with fewer years of WTs and Awakes (old light). If I understand what was said at the last District Assembly.
I've learned much since I've stopped being an attendee, but still use their 2012 WT disc.
everyone knows about the recent across-the-board okay to use electronic devices in jw worship.
few, though, know about how not long ago it was considered a taboo.. first, there was that dc talk a couple of years back where they nearly demonized simply the ownership of a smart phone, ipads (i phones, blackberries, etc) let alone the use of them at meetings.
they brought out that they were a waste of time, expensive and that they exposed a christian to satan's world on the internet.
Yeah, eventually they'll have Elders "snooping" about looking at what is playing on the tablets, guidelines on tablet applications, internet rules, etc. etc.
Actually, they should have just encouraged only eReaders as only those are needed for the ministry work. Certainly not loaded tablets, and most certainly not iPads and going the branded route.
I always thought an eReader would be great to pull in content for the language and that could link to other computers. Full tablets would be too much, and their cost would divide R&F members, and congregations.
ok so thats what jesus said we must do, so the question at hand is, does going around the world telling people that gods name is jehovah does this really sanctify his name, really????

As a Jew (tribe of Judah) and thus a Hebrew, He came in his Father's name. Certainly he told his disciples and others His name and His Father's name, as in Yahusha, coming in His Father's name Yahuah.
Most Bible prefaces and scholars say it is Yahweh, with the Son's name Yahushua (as in very similar to the Yehoshua, or in English Joshua).
So JWorg's The Truth is off track from simply transliterating Hebrew names (let alone the sounds of J and V not used by Hebrews, nor the J by Greeks or English intil the mid 1600s).
