It's a terrible way to feel but it really will get better. It's true that you can't trust everyone, but you will learn. Mistakes are made, we learn from them, grow, and move on. Relationships in the wts are not normal and since that's how you were raised, you'll eventually learn to recognize normal (or as close to normal as there is!). What you're feeling is natural given what you've been through. Loosing family and friends sucks; it'll take time to build a new network, but the good news is that you will.

Crisis of Conscience/ISoCF Library Campaign
by AK - Jeff inmany libraries do not have copies yet, as it is far from 'mainstream' reading for most people.
i propose that we can all do a small deed that can/might be a huge favor to our former 'brethren' in the 'truth'.
check with the local library, see if they have the books on the shelves.

Just make sure to check with them before you donate; our library has space limitations and they place book donations in the book sale instead of on the shelf.

ALERT: All Child Abuse Lawsuits have been settled. Millions cashed out???
by What-A-Coincidence inre: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/8/116108/1.ashx.
a bethel insider in the know told me that all of the child abuse lawsuits where the watchtower bible and tract society was one of the defendants were settled back in the beginning of this year.
i questioned it and called napa myself and they were absolutely settled back then.

If "Knocking" airs in our area we could write a letter to the editor about it and include information about the settlements.

I've read most of this thread but this is what jumped out at me:
Do you know that she refuses to allow her son to attend public school, refuses to allow him to be vaccinated and will not allow him to associate with ANY children, even children in the congregation because she doesn't want any bad association for him?
I'm afraid there's something going on with this poor child. People that were abused often turn into abusers themselves. Maybe a call to social services with suspicions is in order, not stating abuse is suspected but that the child is being isolated by a cult. It's a bad situation all the way around and I can't think of any solutions.

How do you think the r&f are viewing this? Anybody venture a guess.
I'm sure its a sign of the end to them. I remember when they began buying up more property in the country. We knew that the cities would get so dangerous at the end that the gb would have to be in safety in the country. My sisters are probably all a twitter over such an important development.

How many remember the 1969 8 day convention?
by seek2find inanybody remember the 8 day 1969 international convention.
i was at the braves stadium in atlanta all 8 days with a sunburn and then wet clothes after the rain storms.
if you were there (not necessarily in atlanta) do you remember anything about it?

New York 44M: Yes, we were on one of the society's tours. Luckily, we took the charter flight but made most of our own travel arrangements in between assemblies. We mostly did sight-seeing as we'd attended the assembly in Chicago.
Makena1: My uncle was probably in that orchestra. My dad and uncle were both musicians but my dad was completely our of the org by that time.

Peace On Earth International assemblies, I think. I was in Chicago (might have helped cook some of that hot food served under the tents.) We stayed in someones home, too, probably the dirtiest place I ever slept. I locked myself in the bathroom after asking for a wash cloth, found scouring powder under the sink, and scrubbed down the whole room. When we got home one night there was someone sleeping in our bed! But I loved the 8-day assemblies. I was 20, pioneering, and without a lot of other responsibilities at the time.
I was also at Wembley as my pio partner and I scrimped and saved to attend the European conventions. We traveled Europe for a month and though we didn't get along, being in Europe was wonderful!
The long conventions must have been a nightmare for families. My mom took my baby sister to Yankee Stadium in 58 or so and washed diapers in the bath tub. The apartment was roach filled; once they were at a restaurant and a big roach crawled out of her purse! I don't think she ever missed an assembly.
