A Bethel insider in the know told me that all of the Child Abuse lawsuits where the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society was one of the Defendants were settled back in the beginning of this year. I questioned it and called Napa myself and they were absolutely settled back then. No trials anywhere. All the Napa lawsuits were settled. My Bethel insider said there were over a dozen and didn't know the amount of the settlement cost to the Watchtower, but it's supposed to be big and a secret. Like the Catholic Church, if you have money, you can hide stuff. This means we won't hear all the dirty details at trials. I'm very disappointed.

Dedicated and baptized Jehovah's Witnesses have sexually abused minors?

The Legal Dept. @ the HQ of Jehovah's Witnesses knows of such cases and pays money to the victims in exchange for their silence?

And we're to believe that an all-powerful deity named Jehovah is in cahoots with them?

Wouldn't "Love and Norris" attorneys know this if it were true?

Wouldn't Norris who is on this board have announced it to the forum?

Or Barbara Anderson, for that matter?

Hmm...this is smart to settle. No sticky precedents to follow them. And yes, I would like to hear some confirmation before I go running my mouth off.

An article I read on the Society's out-of-court settlement of 1.55 million dollars to the family of Frances Coughlin stated that this action was taken to avoid the possibility of setting a precedent of jury trials favoring the plaintiff. That was my take on it. Sister Coughlin died of injuries resulting from an automobile accident wherein the driver - a Bethelite - was accused of reckless driving.

I would check with attorney Kimberlee Norris (stillconcerned on JWD) to confirm this rumor. Google her name.
