yeah, pretty much the same way as rundontwalk. Why did they have to ALWAYS schedule the service near where the majority of my school lived? The persecution always came on Monday morning. One kid even took a photo of me carrying my shiny plastic service bag , wearing a bad fitting suit and carrying the watchtower...It did wonders for what little street-cred I had.

How would you explain jws to a non-jw?
by Gadget inin the past, when i've been talking about being a witness they haven't really understood just how much of an impact it has on your life unless they've been one too.
whats the best way to explain it to someone who has never been a witness and had little contact with them?
i'm more thinking of how much control there is over your life, and the reason why a lot of witnesses feel down and suffer from depression, ect.. gadget

nowisee - the only thing i would add is, imagine all those things, and imagine that you believe they are all correct and god-ordained. how suffocating, smothering, spirit-trampling, anti-life, anti-happiness, anti-affirming all those things are.
Agreed. It still depresses me when I think about my previous life. Telling my work mates what life as a Dub was like, not only makes me feel better but gives them a clear understanding of how dangerous the Dubs are.

Well done mate. You really kept your cool. I'll have to remember the methods you used. By not attacking the Dubs directly but attacking other cults that share similar teachings, you were able to keep the conversation running. That is something I must try to adopt.

I remember reading this about a year ago and suggesting to my wife that she send it to her sister. She didnt send it because she knew her sister would get rid of her cats. So sad, but funny too

How more vague can the society get at the assemblies?
by be wise inhis is a quote from the give god glory district convention showing how they avoid their own questions and provide the usual vague answers that no jw understands.
we don't want to be personally refuting these untruths unless jehovah's organisation assigned us to do that, publicly.
now, are we talking people in our ministry or elsewhere about points about what they have heard, read?

At a CO visit to my moms KH, he said that in response to the BBC panorama docu. "If someone asks you questions about recent television documentries, you are to tell them that they are all lies" I even got to read my mums notes on the subject. Looks like the light just got a little dimmer...

Anyone heard of a 'JW complex' in London?

i've heard there is or going to be a complex for jw's in london with a number of building for co's and the like and a few kh's i think.

There's also a JW complex near Croydon. There are about 5 KH's and a few flats for CO, etc. Its called "pioneer place" (groan) and its just off Featherbed lane in Selsdon. It's where I got married and is about 10 years old.

Please, everyone, take the time to be patient and educate and "vaccinate" the general public, that JWs are not the kind and good people they like to portray themselves as.
That is exactly what I do, whenever I get the chance.
