  How much of the bible do JW's really use?

  i've noticed over the last several weeks how often the same scriptures are used in meetings at the kingdom hall.. anytime galatians is mentioned you can just about be sure you are going to look up chapter 5 ver.

  19.. 2 timothy is going to be 3: 16. i can't remember considering any addional text to get the context of the verse, just reading the same verses over and over.

  i'm sure most of you can name lots more scriptures used by jw's.. i think i'm going to start taking notes at meetings and listing which verses are used, then i can look from week to week and see how often the same old verses are considered.

  If you do manage to work out how often singular scriptures are repeated time and again I would be interested in knowing the results.

  I never said they did! But you're correct. No one said that all the events on the list took place around 2500BC...that was my mistake and you have my apologies.

  Is this stuff for real? I've been plowing through the Jesus mysteries but I'm still having a problem getting rid of all the garbage I've had forced on me thoughout my years as a Dub. Once the "Jesus Mysteries" is finished, I have "The bible unearthed", "who wrote the Gospels?" and "Who wrote the Bible?" all of which I have just recieved from amazon.

  The first part of my personal study showed me that the WTS was not the true religion. Then my personal study showed me that there is no need for organized religion to get an understanding of God. Now it seems that all of Christianity is actually based on the VERY THING it spent thousands of years trying to destroy, paganism. Many of you have probably been down the same path, so bare with me...it's all new and exciting for me!!

  yesterday my girlfriend and i were walking to our car in a shopping mall parking lot when an elder and his wife drove up.

  instead of running us down with his automobile, he stopped and let us cross.

  hello.........this is a first for me- i've been reading some of your messages for some time now, and i must say you guys study your watchtower far better than i ever did.

  i'm still a part of the congregation (and an elder), but i have to say i agree with many of your criticisms of the organization.

  we've become just like the pharisees that jesus condemned............at our last assembly, the do and co warned against apostate material over and over again..........so i certainly think you're having a tremendous impact on their actions.

  I don't know if it's like this in other areas of the world, but here we're told which weddings we can attend, which funerals we can go to..............many are forced to avoid funerals of even close relatives.......just at a time when they need compassion the most.

  I'm not sure where you're from, but you've just described both my old congregations here in South London.

  i just finished a 'historical novel' titled "confessions of a pagan nun", by kate horsley.

  this is a story about a woman who grew up in ireland during the late 5th and early 6th century, at the time when christianity was beginning to displace the older pagan customs.

  the story tells how gwynneve is raised according to the beliefs of her ancestors, and the conflicts she experiences as she gradually comes into contact with those claiming to represent the christian faith.

  Didnt they say something about once we all have everlasting life, and have lived for thousands of years, jehovah would stop sexual reproduction in man so as not to overpopulate the paradise. I kinda remeber they were quite vague about the details on how people would all of a sudden stop sha**ing. Was that an actual teaching or was I just I tripping during that bookstudy?
