i've just read in another thread that due to circumstances the secret santa for this year hasn't been able to happen, so i want to try and organise another one!.

according to the lady at the post office, the closing date for international mail to be delivered before xmas is this week, but for post on the same continent we still have a few weeks so i'll try and take that into account so everyone can have their prezzy before christmas day.

if everyone who wants to join in can pm or email me at [email protected] with their details before 12noon sunday 30th november(uk time), i'll try and get the details back to you by sunday night.

What is the Purpose of this Site - My personal opinion?

i was a little surprised to learn that many people do not really understand the purpose of jwd.

many are focused on freedom of speech and the fact that this is a "discussion" board.

to some this does seem to go against the heavy moderating the board has seen lately, feeling that discussion is suppressed, some going so far as to suggest that mind control is subtly involved here as in the organization.

I said "spirited" discussions. If they have a firm point of view, and they are discussing a topic, then I think they should stand aside as a mod ON THAT TOPIC only. That leaves plenty of other mods to keep the peace. Stopping some discussion mid flight could be seen as wrong if you were taking part in that discussion.

But I've stopped following the thread properly, it isn't a mod thread, it's a persons opinion of the purpose of this site. I've said my bit, and a few have responded. I have no arguement, just opinion.

six has a point, moderate or discuss, not both. If you want to join a spirited discussion, leave your baggage (and your shield) at the door. State that you are a civvy and join in, but don't do both

I'm unsure of the purpose anymore. I haven't been here long, and I'd forgotten most of the JW way. What I have learned over the last few months from all posters is amazing. I'm having a visit from my brother in a few weeks time, he's visiting my town to attend the assembly that is doing the rounds. I'm here gathering information to counter the "encouraging" that I'm sure I will recieve. He's blindly followed the way for nearly 50 years, never doubted, never had a problem......until this year. I have to have facts and proof to show him in answer to any comments he makes to me. Having knowledge of what food he's about to recieve at the assembly is going to be an enormous head start for me. But I digress.

This help and info has come from all posters, and I'm probably going to get in trouble, but the ones that showed me the most are the ones that have been kicked out. Can't you see that to leave the borg, you have to be different, you have to be a bit firey, you have to stand up and question...and KEEP questioning. This board has all the answers I need, but the source of a lot of that info has been discarded.

People, why can't you work out your differences instead of deleting, censoring and fighting. I'm not going to say it's like the bad old days of borgdumb because it's not. But you can't discard posters because they don't tow the party line.

There are 3 things that should never be discussed.

Sex

Politics

Religion.

What can we discuss then? Wake up and become a bit more tolerant before you lose your complete knowledge base!
