Does bring a memory back that I made up some new (funny) words to a 'kingdom melody'. Wow, what a major mistake that was! My dad heard me and told me angrily that those songs were 'sacred' and it wasn't allowed to change any words!

A New Lightbulb
by wearewatchingyouman in"the truth" it seems to me like a lightbulb.. .
when i think of "new light", i don't think of the sun or the moon or the stars.
an ever present ray of light.

It's heart warming to read your story. It's like getting a sneak peak through a time machine... And the accent, well I've seen Forrest Gump haha, can imagine a bit how she must have sounded. Will listen to the song later today! And please post a picture of her, I'm curious what your grande ma ma looks like.
Thanks for sharing FHN!
(I've had a wonderful grandmother as well, haven't seen her the last decade, since she's still a JW and 'because of her conscience' she's 'not able' to see me again... ever... She's 89 and I terribly miss her )

My parents threw me away
by mzmmom inneed to put it in writing.

Can imagine how this feels for mzmmom.... the last thing on earth that I would want to happen is my mother showing up here! For me it would definitely mean that I would never post again on the forum. (Lucky for me my mother doesn't speak/read English).
And of course, every story has two sides... but what I read from this mother is one big 'blame game', it's all about what the 'child' has done wrong, and complaining how hard it is for her... Not a word of empathy or understanding about how hard it is for her daughter... Not a very open position for a reconciliation imho.

if i knew then what i know now....
by jeremiah18:5-10 inif you could go back and utilize the knowledge of ttatt that you have now, how would it have impacted your decisions?.
for me, i would've made some different choices.
i now see that my depression over losing my position in the congregation and watching what i perceived to be my entire world fall apart around me, left me highly susceptible to influence.

Bobcat, you've probably installed something on your computer. I've had this once myself, when I downloaded a tool, along with it came some malware thing that showed adds on pages I visited.
Best thing to do is go to your control panel and look in 'add or remove programs' if you recognize anything you've (probably thoughlessly) installed lately and remove it. In my case it was some 'toolbar' that came along with an app I forgot to uncheck this added 'feature'.
My husband adds that you should check your browser for advertisement plugins or extensions and then disable them or delete/uninstall them.

So done with expectations and waiting for 'when it happens'...
by Bruja-del-Sol inok, i haven't introduced myself properly.
sorry for that, but i just never feel like i've got something really interesting to say.
so i rather respond on topics of other people.

Thanks for your reaction Maeve, I can relate to your son's thoughts about putting effort into people and getting so little in return. To me it seems that most people live life through Facebook. I'm not on FB anymore, but when I was I really thought I had some dear friends. But it all seemed to collapse as soon as I decided to quit with FB (I don't like their policies). People seem to think that you no longer exist when you're not on FB, at least that's what it looks like. And I'm about to give up on a whole bunch of people whom I love, but I don't get anything from them anymore. So the loveless behaviour isn't just within cults, it's everywhere.
My goal for this year is to find REAL friends, TRUE friends, who are like me... willing to invest in friendship, paying attention to each other, hang out and go out with each other, talk about the things we have in common, laugh a lot, and be there for each other in the hours of need in every way. And this kind of friendship has to be mutual, not just me going to lengths to help someone and never receiving something back (a phonecall or an email with a simpley 'heya, how you're doing?' would be sooo nice, it doesn't have to be big what people can give each other)...
So I reckon there must be such people in Spain, don't you think?
Oh and our 'oliebollen' (the deep-fried breads as you called them) were delicious! First time ever I've completely made them myself, with yeast and all, instead of using 'ready-to-bake'-mix.
Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!
