The father looks like a typical non-thinking, drone, goody-goody JW suck-up. The son just looks plain weird. He looks like an adult that was shrunk down; he does not look like a normal boy. What's the deal with that greasy pompadour-looking hairdo? It doesn't look right on him. He looks like a child that would be on The Adams Family or The Munsters.

Assembly News Photo
by snare&racket inthis photograph from a news site is a succinct summary of a life in wt's hands....... look at their faces, it says it all.. also, note the watchtower pr machine in action, explaining that it brings 4 million dollars to the location.
(10,000 x 400 dollars) clearly a watchtower statistic, where is the care and interest for members who are struggling so much, with new videos encouraging less career activity, less work commitments, at an all time economic low for our generation.. http://www.standard-freeholder.com/2014/06/15/thousands-attend-watchtower-convention-in-cornwall.
father: "i'm a wt 'yes' man and proud of it!

Take a moment and look at it an entirely different way . . .
by Terry ina transcendant being resides as a glob of cellular matter in a woman's body for nine months stitching together a human without the dna of a male human being.. the being is squeezed out of the vaginal canal of his host/mother and has to poop and piss on himself for a couple of years.
what is wrong with this picture?.
the consciousness of the fetus would be what, then?.

one reason for the dumbing down of the org
by Magnum ina lot of us have said that theres been a dumbing down in jw land.
its just not like it used to be especially a few decades ago.
it seems to me that if jw are right and the end of the world is near, the spiritual food should get tastier and more nourishing as time goes on, but it's getting more and more bland and less nourishing.

In reference to the two posts immediately above -
I agree wholeheartedly with DesirousOfChange. I'm at work now and can't say much, but I've got to say that JWs like Serenity infuriate me. What an airheaded, clueless punk. And to think, she has the gall to wake people up on Saturday mornings to "teach" them. What a dumbass.
I've got to come back to this when I get off work; I've got more to say.

Public Speaker Cries During His Talk
by James Jackson inhis talk was about reaching out for the real life.. he is in his mid seventies, then begins to rant on about staying loyal to the organization because many of us have lost loved ones in death and if we want to see them again we must remain in the organization.
he says he wants to see his father again, then the tears begin to flow right there on the stage.... then an elderly sister during the watchtower study admits to regetting leaving her daughter behind to seek a better life in the u.s, and she is crying.... these 2 meetings was just plain weird..

WingCommander - I'm about twenty years older than you. I never, ever, ever conceived of being this old and still being in this system. The ship has sailed into uncharted territory for me. I'm beginning to consider death. I don't want to be cremated. I know it's just purely a mental thing, but it seems so permanent. I think if I'm buried, it's still like there's some of me left. I've been thinking of how and where I want to be buried. The time will be here before I know it. I think about how quickly the past fifteen years have passed. I remember like it was yesterday talking about all the Y2K hype (how all the computers were going to crash, etc.), and that's been fifteen years. I remember Sept 11 2001 like it was yesterday, and that's been almost thirteen years. Time is flying by.
Had it not been for JWs, I might have been able to do more in life. I would at least have had weekends. Maybe if I had not been robbed of a life, I might get "old and satisfied with days" like Abraham did and death wouldn't be so bad. But I'm not satisfied with days since JWs took most of my days from me. I'm not ready for death.

DATA-DOG: Many of the deeper things seemed deep because they were unintelligible discombobulated bull S***!! The belief that an oracle with god given powers of prognostication had profound predictions, predicated the penitent to ponder the profundity of the prognosticator's premise!!
I agree. That's why I said what's shown below in an earlier post on this thread.
It reminds me of an episode of the Beverly Hillbillies I once saw. Ellie-Mae and Jethro got sucked into a commune of hippies, and eventually Granny joined. In this commune was some skinny, shaggy-looking little hippie punk that basically just slept on a cot all day. Every once in a while he would wake up, raise his head up, and say something mundane like "I need to go to the bathroom". All the hippies would then excitedly try to figure out the "deep" meaning of his words, as if they were profound. He was their guru, and whatever he said was unchallenged, accepted, revered even though he was just a skinny little punk who basically slept all day.
That, to me, is the way it was with Freddy. He was nothing special, but he was the JW guru, and whatever he said must have been profound and deep. JWs waited eagerly for the next words to come from his mouth or his pen. However, he was just a social misfit with decent intelligence and education, and he was perhaps delusional.

2029 - the year NOBODY from 1914 will still be alive.
by EndofMysteries ingoing by the oldest verified by birth cert living person is 115 years old, in 15 years not only will not "millions now living will never die(1914)" be untrue, but even 1 single person now living will never die will be out.
i wonder what the spin will be then w/ the wt.

Is there a Creator who gives a s*** about you?
by DATA-DOG in....why your child died, or you have cancer, or lost friends to a mudslide, tsunami, car accident, flood, tornado, hurricane or senseless act of violence.
why your child was molested, or you were molested, or you were slandered by an elder, or boe, or the gb.
why children die of starvation everyday, why faithful xians die every day, some mauled by dogs in field circus.

Yeah, it’s hard to believe there’s a superhuman being that cares when you live down here on this rock and see the horror, injustice, and suffering. And not just among humans, but also among animals. The horror that will occur on the plains of Africa on just this one night will be beyond description. But it’s been going on for millennia. Heck, even dinosaur days and other prehistoric periods were brutal.
Just think of all the torture… the brutality of all the wars… the slow, painful deaths… etc. throughout history. Think of all the misery of ailments for which there was no cure. Think of having a horrible toothache, or a festering wound, or a miserable itch sometime in history when there was no relief.
Think of the type of fighting that occurred in wars in the past. Think of all the squirming and writhing in pain of wounded survivors on the battlefield. They had gashes, slashes, punctures in their bodies. There was no relief. A friend accidentally cut my finger one time about halfway through it. It didn’t hurt that bad when he did it. I got stitches and was given pain medicine. I thought I was tough and wouldn’t need the medicine. That night it started throbbing and the pain was nauseatingly unbearable; I had to take the medicine. Imagine what it would have been like to have had multiple slashed fingers and other wounds with no pain-relieving medicine to take.
Consider the horrible tortures such as the brazen bull and many others. We are only aware of a small part of the suffering in our time and throughout history. If we could see it all, we’d really wonder how a superbeing could refrain from helping.
About twenty years ago when I was in the ministry an astute householder asked me why God permits suffering. I gave him the standard JW answer involving the universal sovereignty issue. He understood the point, but answered: “It’s hard to keep that perspective”. In other words, he was saying “yeah, I understood that academic answer, but it’s hard to see how God could let all this go on without intervening.” I agree with him.

I've got a Problem - exam tomorrow, and I can't get interested
by fulltimestudent inby 09:20 tomorrow morning i've got to front up for an exam ( in my study unit, the new testament in its times).
and, even though two of the questions are known to me (and all the students sitting for the exam) - i'm finding it hard to concentrate.
the problem is not helped by having a dose of the flu - but i'm just finding it so hard to focus..

You seem to indicate that the problem is not the flu, but maybe is exacerbated by the flu. Do you know why you're having a problem concentrating and focusing? The subject sounds extremely interesting.
Where are you going to school (what country)? I think you've said before, but I don't remember. Australia?

Billy the Ex-Bethelite: The Daniel book was fairly well received, but there was a lot of disappointment that no predictions for the future were made for things like King of the North. It was more of a historical review rather than something motivating. And for the two Isaiah books, there were a lot of complaints from publishers and book study conductors. These things were so painfully slow, boring, and repetitious that I know our congregation saw new lows in attendance for CBS.
I agree with you about the Daniel book. Also, I'm glad to hear you sort of confirm what I thought about the Isaiah books. Even though I agree with donuthole that they were the last of the books that had that feel of deeper analysis, they were painfully slow, boring, and repetitious as you said. It seemed that every other paragraph referred to the 537 B.C.E. restoration of true worship and applied it to 1919 C.E.
