Its always good to question what u believe in and find proof for it. So if you can, seperate religion and God. The only way to understand and believe in God is to go into it as a relationship. Dont look at the rules n what man makes it into. There is one rule to be saved : "believe that jesus died and was resurected". Its that simple. The rest is stuff you build on and comes to u naturally when God starts working on ur heart.... And as far as the translations go, king james 1611 is the only untampered translation. Everything else tries to take important pieces out or alter stuff just enough to confuse or take the power out of the bible.

I know it may sound scary. But research the devil and the supernatural/paranormal. Once u see how real the devil n demons are, it is very hard to deny that there is a God too. You will see who the devil n his followers hate and why. That is what sealed the deal for me.

If u want to ask god to show himself to you, he will. Its not as complicated as "Realigious" people make it

so i am talking to a woman who mentions that she named her cats after the archangels (plural).

Archangles are just a rank of angel. Like chief, private, colonel, etc...

There are fewer angels in the higher ranks and have more power ( ex: satan)

Only very few have wings. Only the ones guarding the throne. (The ones with the face of a lion, eagle, man, etc...)

They were created before man. "All the angels rejoiced at the creation of man" Genisis

Historical texts like the bible, book of Enoch, Jasher, Giants, and countless accounts from all over the earth (from the begining to now). All create a pretty detailed answer to the original question.

-1/3 Angles fell after choosing to "get it on" with humans.

-Wanted to go back to heaven but were not allowed.

-So they gave hidden (occult) knowlege to men In exchange for worship n women

-had nephilim babies and tried to corrupt all humanities DNA so messiah couldnt be born

-flood happened cuz only 8 people were uncorrupted by fallen angel DNA

-all nephilim hybrids died and their souls are the "rephiem" (demons and evil spirits)

-now the 2/3 good angels are combating the 1/3 fallen.

-they also help to assist with Gods plan and are "messengers"

For those that have not witnessed supernatural evil. Or dont believe that the supernatural exists . This might be a hard concept to come to grips with. But it is real as u and I are. There is a vail that exists as a barrier to protect us so that evil doesnt run amuck. The angel help to maintain it until an unspecified time. They also protect those with faith from the fallen angels and demons that have free range with unbelievers.

The reason I stuck around so long is so that im not just chucking a grenade and leaving. I had to own up to what I posted.

But every time I come back to respond, the harder it is to be upset. Now I just feel bad to see how much the WT still has its tentacles in the people that have escaped. It has warped the idea of God so much that even after leaving it takes people away from God. And unfortunatly mainstream Christianity hasnt done much to help after you have been hurt.

A vast majority of the reasons people are giving for their "anti-theism" seems so judgmental and personally not agreeing with how u think God should do things. As its been said, that is a very arrogant stance to take. Each one of us is only alive for 80+ yrs and may live in a couple countries or states in our whole lives. But we still think that we know whats what and our sense of mortality or love is what God should abide by.

Reality is if im wrong then "oh well" and it shouldnt be any skin off your back.

But if im right, then each and every one of us is going to have to answer for our lives. And if all it takes is believing in Jesus to not have to spend eternity in the absense of God . Im sorry id much rather take my chances that atheists could be wrong.

To each his own. Thats what free will is for.

Abba... I wish I had started the thread with more grace, like you. And I agree 100% with ur first post.

And to the "troll" name callers and contradiction spotters.... its called admitting when ur wrong. And I did this when I started out this thread with less than pleasant words.

The fact of the matter is, this thread has proven my original reason for posting this topic. There are those who may not be as aggresive in the God/Christian bashing. But unfortunatly u are drowned out by the more vocal and less helpful of ur peers. Name calling, pointless critique, and belittling any believer in God that has dared post on this topic.

Moral of the story=

1) every smart person is an atheist.(if not ur dumb)

2) if ur not one then it means u are at a lower level in ur journey (dont worry tho ull get there eventually)

3) Gods a fairy tale cuz bad things happen.

4) if u dont debate me then ur living a lie and have no basis for ur belief.

I apologize if it sounds like im dismissing anyone. Obviously emotion and intent do not translate well over this medium (at least not for me as u can tell from my grammer, punctuation, and spelling).

I have these discussions and debates in real life not online. I have access to many different people with many different viewpoints. And all these people are very educated in their respected fields (many are atheists). So this is not a new topic of discussion for me. I just choose not to bog down my time debating this topic on an ex-jw site with internet scholars. I am bogged down with research, study, work, and life. Which is why "testing my intellect" here seems a little pointless.

This is not saying that this site isnt helpful for people still struggling with the jw's. Obviously it helps a lot of people. But I am not there anymore. So I would rather get my religious advice from another source.

Im sorry that upsets some of you so much. But I would be useless in a back n forth typing war with obvious seasoned vets. Thats why I stand by my previous statements and bow out of all the "gods a fairy tale" arguments.

You can believe who and what u want.

If that were the case then I would not be able to honestly say that I am a "firm believer". There is no way in the world I would be able to believe something if it didnt stand up to every sort of challange. Example: the watchtower org.

Unlike a majority of christians u may run into, I study in depth the paranormal, history, science, all religions, athiesm, new age, agnostisism, paganism, occult, sacred geometry, gov, etc... And have come out an even stronger believer in a creator. I never write things or people off as untrue or fairly tale just because it doesnt fit into my "box". There is truth in each camp. But there are also a lot of deception.

I just realize that im over trying to "win" arguments with people who are just trying to re-a firm their own stance. I'd rather spend my time somewhere where I can actually learn.

Atheism just doesnt have much to offer me in the relm of education. There is just too much evidence to the contrary. And if a premise is flawed from the get go, then how can it provide anything to build on?

Ya to be completly honest. After reading through itll the responses, I have no desire to debate (discuss, answer questions, dialogue, etc) on this topic. I realize that the gap between the paradigms is very vast. So it is a "circular" argument. Both parties have different sources and authorities that they trust and distrust. But I guess we all find out when we die.

I apologize for my negative and hypocritical comments.

This site is just not for me. You guys can have It.

I have already healed from my 25yrs as a jw and I am more concerned with growing as a christian rather than debating in pointless arguments.

As far as the HONEST, OPEN MINDED discussion. Yes I am sincere about that. But I dont want it to break down into a name calling sandbox fight. Because I respect that this is your world view. And dont want to tamper with it (a.k.a. trying to convert each other). But if its about getting real answers then im game.

U guys are right... I should have respected the queens english a little more. My apologies for how incoherent it is :/

And I personally believe that the only way to get the truth is to get all sides of the story. So i have and currently am honestly researching all points of view. I also believe in respecting peoples beliefs and letting them find their own way.

But I cant stand when people attack other people and belittle them for what they believe (christian, atheist, new ager, etc). Unfortunatly, that is what happens topic after topic on this site. And in this situation its people with the athiest point of view that are doing what "christians" are normally accused of doing. Just f.y.i. I would be upset if christians where doing the same to athiests on this site.

I came here looking for both point of views from ex-jw's cuz there are valid points in both camps. But as soon as "God" comes into the thread, His validity is immidiatly the focal point of the topic. Or, the poster who brought him up is either ignored or berated.
