@bugbear the New bigger assembly halls will be build by an international group of volunteers. Some halls that are used now will be sold (for example one in the Netherlands that was used for 40 years). The money will be used for the new halls. The bigger new halls will serve for decades to come as assembly and convention halls. They will also be used for education like the school for couples. Housing, for the students will be there as well so that they dont have to travel each day back and forth to the hall.

@Bugbear the closing and selling of assembly halls has to do with a new strategy. They are going to build new and bigger assembly halls in 7 european countries. In that way they have to rent less locations for conventions and are reducing costs by maintaining bigger assembly halls instead of a few smaller ones.
The Netherlands is the first european country where such a hall will be made with about 3 X the capacity of existing ones.

@kate or just things that make sincere believers dissapointed like for example the scandal with the bling bling bishop that is now in the news in germany. The german catholic church is scared of the new pope and public opinion, because disclosure of facts could lead to less revenues and donations and more people leaving the catholic church.

@Steve the situation is not much different. Around 30,000 publishers for the last decades and on the memorial about 50,000. Its stable and healthy but not much growth to be expected anytime soon unless something happens to religion in common.

@NVR2L8 In a marriage things are different than cases between other people and former friends . S just be a good husband for her. She has to be a good wife for you. And indeed its better to avoid the subject.

@steve I am only familiar with the situation in germany, the netherlands and belgium. Here in the netherlands the average baptism age is relatively high compared with a lot of other countries around the world (due to our culture). Gerrit Lösch held a special talk here not that long ago in which he mentioned it. He encouraged youngsters and parents to think about getting baptised at a younger age.
yes i am looking forward to the yearbook too

@steve i said before that in most internet penetrated countries the number of witnesses remain stable or show a slight increase. In my country it is 'stable' too but that does not change the fact that the mix of baptism candidates is born in / convert 40/60
so the influx of people is enough to cover the loss of those who died or faded/df'd

So you are bittered because 7 very old men and one younger man have a living space, food , dry cleaning and suits? Sounds a bit pathetic to me. As far as i am concerned they work hard together with about 20,000 other people who are part of the worldwide bethel family
My experience is different than yours. Other topics i likely will not comment on because i dont discuss our teachings on here. Have a nice day.
