i really don't know if i just naturally am a great bloke or if any 'nice' bits in the bible influenced me......or has western culture been influenced by the bible for good and bad?.

Well done WMF, but the celibacy is a bit extreme. Being promiscuous is not dignified and becomes mechanical with strangers, but finding someone while we're still young is okay. All the other things I agree with, I do drink also, but in moderation.

I try and follow Matt 7.12 " Do unto others................".
But I agree with Laika that Matt Chapters 5-7 the sermon has mostly good advice.
However I do take exception with Luke 9.23 “If anyone wants to come after me, let him disown himself . . . and follow me continually.” I am not sure if it still the sermon on the mount, but putting Jesus beofre family and personal care needs is not something I agree with.

in my area the general sense is bleak.
many are in survival mode.
even at the convention the appearance of the majority was unhappy and tired.
Our cong is very zealous all the elders, about 13, are pioneering for the special activity and they are zealed up to the boots. They have annoucements about FS groups every meeting, we have an announcement on Thurs about the final number pioneering.
The Announcement about the big announcement case, just like the meeting to arrange a meeting. Total nonsense...I am looking forward to this special month as I am turning 41 and feeling 21 again, yipee. 16th Aug special day.
We also have a London ex JW meetup on the 23rd Aug, when the International RC is on at Twickers. Exciting month ahead.

Very frustrating indeed. This is what Cedars was lobbying about and trying to not get DF'd, but him and his wife are DA'd not much different although at a local level they have some contact with his wifes family for necessary business. Aparantly relationships with Cedars family are strained atm.
Deffo dammed if you do or don't, their game their rules.

at the international convention here i just got off the elevator with anthony morris.
he was heading to the basement and i was heading up to administration.
i rode one floor down with him before i went up to my destination.
If I was in a lift with him, I would ask him how he feels Holy Spirit guiding him. I ask that to all Christians I meet, JWs or not. I get a bunch of different responses, very interesting in fact. The best I got was when an elder said.........
"I know Holy Spirit is guiding me when I read the bible and follow it" - Bro NiceButDim

question: can any of you that have successfully faded out of the jw world without being df'd or da'd relate to me/us how you were able to maintain at least one or a few of your "still in" friends or family?
(and even if you were df'd or da'd and still maintained some relationships, how did that go?).
obviously, the truly demented, sick and twisted (and highly effective) policies and structure of the wtbt$ to set up a system by which anyone that chooses to no longer believe or participate must be treated as "mentally diseased" and a pariah by their own friends and family is the hands down, numero uno reason why many hundreds of thousands and possibly millions of jw's do not leave.
My daughter faded and only has has JW friends that have left too......but they keep going back like yoyo's so when they do.......friendships are strained. I am Df'd and have maintained friendships. How does that work eh?
Leaving WT is making a new life........some friendships are JWNers like me xx

personally i don't think it represents our family and the wt have covered up my ex's transgressions and he remains a jw.
he violently abused us, he divorced me unscripturally, he continues to take us to court and my son wants nothing to do with him or wt.. i am df'd for trying to expose this.
