i stopped going in my heart properly in nov 2013, but i went to a couple of meetings to support a love one that was df'd and tried to teach them a little ttatt.. now another df'd loved one is coming to see me today and will likely encourage me to try and get ri'd, and i want to support her.

I am not planning to get RI'd, I just want her to feel less isolated sitting alone at the back and then have some association at the end of the meeting and be in a listening mood.......it's my idea to win her over I suppose xx

Yes I would probably talk about how I found the speaker and the talk hypocritical in what ways specifically and that's why I have lost faith

I might go to the meeting. I stopped going in my heart properly in Nov 2013, but I went to a couple of meetings to support a love one that was DF'd and tried to teach them a little TTATT.
Now another DF'd loved one is coming to see me today and will likely encourage me to try and get RI'd, and I want to support her. I think the best way to get to see her regularly is go to meetings and then go for lunch and support her and give her tit bits of TTATT.
Would you go to the meeting with this intent? Do you think I should?

well another big bad elder here just wanting to say sorry.. i'm sorry that so many were treated like crap, and shown that god's love is not to be found around jehovah's witnesses.
i'm sorry that inadvertently i've likely taught many to judge and as such see that racism permeates every corner of the jw world, else why else would someone be of the world, or even inactive.
i'm sorry i sat in on a jc, and voted to df.

I echo what you say about the kids. Mine at the moment don't believe and I am delighted. My youngest gets bribed to go to meetings which is wrong, but a positive for me as he won't respond to this and realises it's all fake if he is being bribed.

a couple of saturdays ago i and my girlfriend (who happens to be baptised into the greek orthodox religion, but practises greek catholic...no, she's not greek) were on the virgin train from glasgow to london.. we had reserved seats on the quiet zone of the train, because y'know, a 5 hour train journey shouldn't be sullied by mobile phones ringing and noisy conversations.. somewhere around the lake district a very tall woman sits at the table across the carriage from us, a table already occupied by a very chatty, bearded man in his late 50s, along with his wife.
this man was directing people where to stow their luggage and asking random travellers questions about their journey to the point where i sent my girlfriend a text message (easier to communicate that way without others overhearing us) asking if he was the "train boss".. he struck up a conversation with this new passenger about his travels, but i wasn't really paying attention as i was watching a movie on my ipad, wearing noise cancelling headphones.
after a little while i noticed they'd stopped chatting and the woman was now reading.
Lol the title sounds like a joke, nice experience but I was expecting a joke from you lol

update - for those of you who read my last topic 'disfellowshipped at 18' i am so thankful for all the support and helpful comments i received.
it's amazing to know that despite how alone i may feel, so many of you have suffered the same way that i have.
i know that i can live happily without being one of jehovah's witnesses.
Very well written, I enjoyed reading it. Keep posting and reading here it is therapeutic and you will get a lot of support and understanding.

some have asked how my views and convictions have changed over the past 15 years or so after leaving the watchtower behind to return to my familys roots and embrace judaism.
the best way to explain things is to allow both the religion of the watchtower and my life as a jew today to stand side-by-side for comparison.
while i cant guarantee this will help prove to others that the jehovahs witnesses are truly a crazy religious group, i am sure it will prove to most that jews probably are, and are quite aware of it.
Hilarious.....I was a Jew also....but didn't go back to my roots....I sometimes had the inclination to go to a Sabbath service in Liberal synagogue...but have not gone
With all joking aside....I think it's still a very sexist religion....even with gay female rabbis lol

Thanks for the first instalment of your story....very interesting so far. Yes it does blow your mind learning TTATT but the outrage and frustration subsides once you focus on your exit plan if you decide to exit.
