  hello, i am a new member.

  i grew up in the jw religion; however i am not an active jw.

  have been visiting this site for about 3 yrs, and have become quite attached to it.

  I can see you now regret lying. It seems like you need to make a fresh start. If your bf forgives you then you can make a fresh start with him.

  I don't feel my telling the truth and being honest has led to consequences. But also I believe not everyone is entitled to know the answers to all the questions they address to you. Some need to build trust.

  We all are entitled to an element of privacy.

  Try and have some balance and don't deceive people unnecessarily.

  I'm a coward.

  since the move, it has been so enjoyable to not have jw's breathing down our necks asking why we didn't make the meeting, or having to pretend to be "spiritual" in front of family all the time.. 90% of my week is virtually stress free.

  then, my mom calls or texts wanting to talk to her grandkids.

  every dang call, she asks about the new congregation, if we went to the meeting, etc.. why can't i tell her to fk off?

  I don't think you're a coward..... I think you don't like upsetting you're mum or other family members.

  To DA is very final....and to cut all contact is final too. You have to do what's suits your household at the right time.

  I hope you have an idea of what you're going to do.

  SING NO SAD SONGS FOR EX-BETHELITES

  what happens to ex-bethelites is really of no concern to the gb.

  and equally no concern to us as ex-jws or those who question jw organization.. layoffs have happened at headquarters and elsewhere for many, many years - although the scale this time is larger than previously, being an all time high: 1,600. .

  for the record, we should spare any sympathy/empathy for those who are about to sent packing this time.

  Well I feel for those who thought they were giving all they had to Jehovah. I myself gave up a career as a chemical analyst to pioneer for Jehovah. I gave him everything.

  I have now been out for two years and volunteering and retraining as I can't go back to my old career. I have lost my seniority.

  I empathise with them and will help and support any that visit this site.....especially to avoid suicides if I can.

  even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.

  the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

  You're mixing medical terms with specific terms in chemistry, Kate, a sure sign that someone is attempting to support a tenuous position by confusing the muddying the waters. In chemistry, what you are saying is NOT what homochiral means.- Viv

  The medical definition is also the chemical definition. You haven't offered a better definition. All readers of your posts will know you are not able to correct me as I am correct.

  Incidentally I have never been on that website you refer to as I don't seek confirmation bias. I would rather talk to someone who disagrees with me to find out why they believe as they do. After talking to you on numerous occasions I have concluded you have nothing of substance to offer me.

  if you are a lurker then you are probably a thinker.

  you will already be wondering about a number of aspects of jw doctrine and how they stack up against reason, logic and modern scientific evidence.

  if so, then i appeal to you to meditate and reason on one implication arising from the latest news that the next publication will be a simplified version of an already simplified book.

  I am for the moment trapped in but I am so glad that I have worked things out and am now longer torn in the quandary of cognitive dissonance, trying to square the circle over and over again. I feel mentally free and was only able to start to feel that way once I stopped thinking that the circle could be squared and that I HAD to do so.-K99

  Well that's good progress. I am glad to hear it. CD can lead to all manner of mental problems and failure to function normally in daily living.

  I am sure your post will help some, especially those in similar circumstances. I was very frustrated when I was in your position that's probably why I thought I could sense it in you.
