The two paths of exJWs

it's easy to think of exjws as being a single amorphous group but the more i think about it, the more i believe that there are two distinct sub-groups and wonder if you agree.. there are those who believe and those who don't.

i know that seems obvious but let's break it down a bit more.

there are those who don't and never believed and some who are looking for a religion to match their beliefs.. i used to think this split would be between born-ins and converts but of course it's possible for born-ins to be believers although i suspect that many, like with other faiths, do so simply because they have never experienced anything else or made a conscious choice.

Some people who buy a new bike love their new bike and it makes them happy, so they want to sell more new bikes to others who rode their old bike with them once. They want to express how much better the new bike is. Especially if people want to drive trucks from now on.

Simon, they mean no harm, and if all bikes are the same many will come to the same conclusion. But there will always be some who want to sell you a new bike.

Is it so bad to have that side of the argument on your forum if it helps people learn how to drive a truck?

Availability Crisis of Conscience.

most of us are desperately waiting for the availability of a legal crisis of conscience.

deborah dykstra provided us with two updates.

on december 12, 2015 there was a clear statement about the copyright which stopped all illegal activity in spreading electronic versions & prints.. finally, she promised a new update by or before may 6.. so far no new update.

Yes indeed, if anyone asks me I will provide if there is no other source. I have sent Deborah Dyrska a email stating this and told her to bill me her costs if she wishes.

It's between me and Deborah what I do with my copy now, and she is not fulfilling her promises to meet deadlines. She refuses help also.

I do also agree that not everyone needs CoC to wake up, but it certainly does help to know how the GB work. As most JWs think holy spirit guides their decisions which CoC exposes as false.

I'm getting baptized

i know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.

my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.

i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

How are you feeling today Blackwolf?

I know a lot of posters are telling you to not get baptized. But I understand what it's like to be a child of baptized JWs. I was once the JW parent of a 16 year old daughter, who wanted to make her parents happy and wanted to be a good person with good and desirable qualities.

I told my daughter the only way was Jehovah's way and that anything else was Satan's way and did she want to please Satan. She let me control her as she knew I really loved her and cared about her. But she had different views on right and wrong. She gained my trust and did things her way without me knowing.

I feel regret that I was so controlling and my 16 year old had to lie to me. I feel for you and understand you really have no choice, because you know your parents truly love you.

This thread is not annoying Blackwolf. You are being coerced and forced to do something.

Before you know it you will be pioneering and then getting married to a ministerial servant who will force you to do things you don't want to do aswell.

I understand you have no choice and you have no freedom. I gave you my number so we could talk properly on wifi......but you can't even get the freedom to talk to people without your parents knowing.

The sad thing is they think it's in your best interest and we know it's not.

I have read most of your posts and see your dilemma. I am so sorry you're being pressured so much into doing something you really don't want to do.

I know you're only 16 and feel totally trapped and alone.....if there is something I can do I will Blackwolf.

I know you like drawing and horses. Focus on these interests for now.

I understand your point Simon. The reality is if genuine people see both sides of the argument they can draw their own conclusions. I don't agree with LL, but the posts are clearly nonsense to those doubting and searching for the answers.

I think having nonsense to draw from in contrast to logic can be a benefit......don't you agree?

Had a weird love-bombing throwback today......

my wife is having her first birthday party in july, and we're looking for a place to hold it.

we found an episcopal church online that offered their fellowship hall for such occasions, and we went to check it out this morning.

when we arrived they were having something in the hall and were setting up for it.

It's good that you have people to invite to a birthday party. I have celebrated my birthday twice since I left and the kids have too.

It's always been very small and quiet.....no one to invite.

Nice weather this weekend. Made me think.....

there was a time when as a family, we'd host a bbq in our large back garden.

we'd have a small gazebo, tables and chairs.

the reggae music would be pumping out but not too loud.

Rebel, being divorced and df'd.....is the most isolating way to leave WT. Not many can understand how it feels.

I understand where Punky is coming from and feel for him.

Your positivity is great. But sometimes we have bad days.

I'm still on my JWN holidays but had to pop back to share this experience.

i'm a postman with the royal mail and was assigned to train a new starter yesterday.

my line manager introduces me to 'dave', within seconds my jw radar was on maximum!

in his mid to late 30's, politely spoken and with that haircut - i just knew it.. the post he'd applied for was saturdays only, he said he did a lot of volunteer work.

That's a lovely experience. I would do exactly the same Myself. Being kind to people who are stuck in a cult is the right thing to do.
