hope my attachment works- i will keep trying or perhaps someone can help me get this official letter posted if i fail...i just got this in the mail .
yesterday and finally opened it today.
i did not write to them!
It didn't come up on your first attempt!
I paste information in here from time to time, and one time in particular had a difficult time. What I have done since is copy the document into a Word document then check the formatting. I don't know this for a fact, but I don't think this board supports any thing other than very simple formatting.
Don't forget to erase any names out of the letter - as in who it is written to - and who signs it. You'll be infringing on some silly law if you don't.

growedup - if it makes you feel any better (even tho you shouldn't feel bad) my friend who sent this to me scored 144...hehe.
Yes, it makes me feel a little better. It sure goes to show the difference between those who were raised as a dub (most here), and those who were able to act out because of their exposure to dubdom (me). All I can say is I sure hope I get buried in an asbestos suit!

I always love your insight on these matters. Here is a question to you: What if they were putting these articles in place because they feared they were going to be accused of being something other than a religious entity? It hasn't been too long since someone found direct connections between the WT and individual NGO's such as the United Way. With that information in hand, do you think there could be more to this than meets the eye?
(P.S. Love your new avatar!)

Do you know if this "revision" is going out to all congregations which are incorporated, or just some of them? Do you know if these articles are or can be retroactive or not?

i placed a thread titled medical care with so little response.
this surprised me very much as i thought that there were a lot of people who had inside information of this nature that would not normally be available to the general public.. my daughter, who is a resident in patterson has cancer and i was concerned if she would be getting the proper care i feel she deserves.
she told us recently that she will be totally covered for all medical expenses.

Here is a copy of (one of) the WT's Patterson physician's MD License. It has his DEA number on it - you can check him out through the Medical Board in NY. I don't know if there are other MD's at Patterson - this was the only one I could find. I will also run a check on the MD's at Bethel. Some may have moved up to Patterson by now and their license has not transferred. I hope this helps you.

Logansrun,
I think that it is so good that you seem to be in such a "seeking" mode. The last few threads of yours that I've caught really show that you have a good head on your shoulders and that you refuse to let the status quo define who you are.
I don't know your personal story, but I'm going to assume that you are either out of the borg, or you're contemplating getting out of the borg (not like me who was never in the borg). IMHO, this "seeking" you are doing is about the most healthy thing you can do after being oppressed and suppressed. You are demonstrating that you can function outside the organization that has dictated your every thought and movement. As a result, I believe you will enjoy much success at whatever you do - especially when compared to those who don't have the courage to leave, and are afraid of having to think for oneself. Bravo to you!
I am aware that my comments about my immediate surroundings probably sounded as though I might be off-topic. The truth of the matter is that I thought that by making my point based upon my own experiences, fewer people would be offended at what I was really trying to say. I am one of the people on this board that dislike the negativity and nastiness of the political threads, and as a result, when I simply can not resist jumping in, I will try to get my two cents worth in without calling names or thinly disgusing whatever animosity I may feel about a particular subject. Although there are times when I allow myself to get "sucked in" to political debates, and times where I am right in there slinging mud with everyone else, I have come to realize just how angry, negative, sanctimonious, and down right discouraged those threads make me feel - and I don't like to feel that way. In fact, I have realized that I much prefer to debate in a manner which encourages thoughtful responses, rather than ugly tirades. This is precisely why I chose to respond to your original question in the manner I did. Rather than take the bait and talk trash, I decided to put a thoughtful comment out for you to examine. I don't limit my thought to just my immediate surroundings, or to that which is only concrete. I've done and continue to do the same intellectual examinations you engage in. I just choose (there's that word again) to respond differently. You have consistently demonstrated your intelligence, Logansrun, and I believe that you are smart enough to see my point. I humbly offer up that there are some on this board that, if forced to say which choices they've made in regards to their political discontent, wouldn't like the answer they would give.
Every single one of us in this great nation make a difference - including you. I think that was never so evident as demonstrated by the 2000 Presidential election. You have such great ideals, and enough energy to make more of a difference than Average Joe Citizen. Also to your credit, you have youth - you have a lot left in you, and my challenge to you is to find a way to use your talents in a positive way to bring about the changes you desire! You have what it takes!

I agree with Expatbrit. His/her insights make a lot of sense.
Most immigrants I've met (including myself) go through a bit of this to one extent or another because of the magnitude of starting a new life from scratch.
I find this to be particularly true, even when moving from one place to another within the US - and/or even when moving from one place to another within a particular state. In California alone, I've lived in the SF Bay Area, the Sacramento area, Orange County (LA), the CA Central Valley, the Monterey Bay Area, and the Lake Tahoe region. Even within one state, every single place was different - most notably to me, in culture and attitudes. Without naming which area I am referring to, I'll just say that one particular region had some of the snootiest and "surface" people I've ever met in my life and I was miserable there. In other regions, my day-to-day life was very much influenced by the natural surroundings. When I look back on one place in particular, I still smile - it was the most fun place I've ever lived in my life and is where I met and married my husband. Yet another place is where I call "home" and wouldn't want to leave for anything - even with some of the kooky laws which drive up the prices of everything in this state.
That said, I've also lived in Missouri, which is as different from CA as you can get. The weather is completely different, the economy is better (at least when I was there), and the people are wonderful. I never could get used to some of the laws they had there, and the infrastructure didn't make much sense to me, only because it is an older state which had to get very creative in order to update. And the pace - even in the large suburban area of Kansas City, was so much more relaxed than in CA.
In other words, I agree with the following statement also made by Expatbrit:
If you are unhappy living in the US/Canada/Uk etc, you are unlikely to be happier somewhere else.
It's all about attitude, and your own ability to adapt.
Someone once told me "You can't change everyone's ideas to fit yours, you can only change the way you react to someone else's ideas." I believe this to be true. We CHOOSE the way we look at where we live or don't live - whether we are looking at the weather, economy, people who live there, natural surroundings or political climate. It's what we do with the way we feel about it that makes the difference. If we are unhappy about where we live, we have choices. We can choose to move somewhere else where we *might* be happier; we can choose to stay where we are and piss and moan and engage in heated political debates which only serve to further polarize political ideas; or we can choose to accept that no matter how persuasive we think we are, we're never going to be able to get everyone to agree with our particular ideas. With that in mind, we can also choose to use the energy we would normally use to piss and moan, and channel it towards positive ACTIONS and DEEDS which can bring about the change we desire. Trading nasty words is NOT going to solve anything; but acting on the changes we would like to see can much more peacefully affect the outcome we desire.
My 2,
