Thanks to all for the advice thus far. Perhaps I should just concentrate on purchasing more goodies for now. I already purchased Canon's 100-400 image stabilized lense and just received Sigmas new 24-70 macro which replaces that nasty freebie kit lense that came with my camera.
Any ideas as to where to go from here?
For the film shooters. I was reluctant to venture into digital, but now I find myself shooting more and critiquing in ways I never did with film. Though a daunting program Photoshop presents opportunities I never had with film.
Happy shooting

I'm particularly interested in knowing if the 5D shoots RAW in the auto function modes as well as in the manual settings. The XT shoots RAW in the manual modes but jpeg in all the auto modes. Sometimes it's nice to just let the camera do the work, but I like to start with RAW files if at all possible.
No attacks from Nikon shooters please, I do shoot film with my two trusty old Nikons, but.....
Happy shooting all.

Meetings are BORING!
by 5thGeneration inwhy do the brothers take such offense when someone says that the meetings are boring?.
i can't possibly fathom how people who have been going to the meetings for decades can sit at the kh and listen, for example, to yesterday's wt study for an hour about adam and eve, cain and abel, how we are all allowed to pray, blah, blah, blah... and not be bored out of their minds!.

Such Pharisees!
by Dawn ini guess i'm gabby mouth tonight .
my brothers are both elders, i'll call them brother a and brother b. brother a disowned my mother since our dad passed away, because he's mad at things that happened when we were kids.
apparently it's easier to take it out on mom now because brother a couldn't stand up to dad - but that's another story.. it's a while since dad passed and brother a refuses to return her emails, phone calls, help her in any way.

I'm surprised he didn't play the trump card (call it corbin), I have to spend my time, money, resources, health, etc. for the Society. These holier than thou folks just make my blood boil.
Why don't you write another letter to Brother A, ask him if he'd prefer that you communicate with the Service Dpartment (aka Bethel CIA) and then they can communicate with him directly. That will for sure get his goat. ...and then follow through with it, send a letter to Crooklyn.
If you're feeling a little upset by things you've done in the past, please go read Micah 6:8.
Have a great day

Roger Insellman, Barry Sobieski, Wade Payne These guys still COs?
by Seeker4 inroger insellman, barry sobieski and wade payne were three of the poorest cos i can remember in the decades i was a jw.
sobieski was a bully, using his authority to intimidate as much as possible.
insellman was just not personable, and was such a company man is so many ways.

Last we heard Barry Sobieski was in the SW Florida area as DO maybe temporary, he had been CO around Gainesville, FL. Know some of his family who of course are no longer speaking. Seemed quite impressed with himself.
Clayton Peace was in the Tampa, FL area, heard they were or did leave the road. Didn't like air conditioning, actually had them turn off the AC in a hall during his visit. Always had a list of things not to cook for them. Hated dangly ear rings, refused to work with sisters who were not wearing hose while in service. (In Florida yet) What a jerk. Good riddance.

Bethel Downsizing - Management Discussions
by core in.
the spin on downsizing is apparently "go out into the field" yet when the gb initially considered this it must have been presented as a practical problem - too much surplus hr capacity/ too expensive to maintain - or whatever and yet they turned it into a positive matter by stressing the return to the field - all those in such discussions are clearly able to deceive themselves as much as they try and deceive the "flock" - what do you think - did a discussion on a practical problem have to have a positive outcome and how did they twist their minds so as to sell it as such - for years they begged people to stay in bethel service (make it your home for life) and now they cast them out into the world with the thin veneer of "speedin g up the preaching work .. etc".
all those at the top must have been involved in turning this huge embarrasment (jehovah will provide etc) into a positive spin - they should try out for a marketing award "downsizing - the only way to grow!

Much of the behind the scenes IT work is furthered by a dub from Florida - Haniph Latchman, an Oxford educated Phd. His work has most notably been the Bethel WAN and inter-branch communication via the internet.
See this for his bio http://www.list.ufl.edu/latchman.htm
