Matt 24:45-47 The faithful slave refers ONLY to Governing Body. Does this make sense?
by MC RubberMallet inaccording to 2 reports thus far from 2012 annual meeting, this is new light.
some may need more time and verification to post an opinion on this, but i plan on showing the scriptural fallacies of this "new light".
comments?.

Question - Did the death of Jaracz and/or Barr get start this thinking? Or have they been thinking this and Barr and/or Jaracz quieted such thoughts, and since he died, they went along with it?
This has been fomenting for some time. Dan Sydlik was one opposer that I know of. He was told he was standing in the way of a benevolent dictatorship. At the time we were unaware of the tumult that was bulding around all this, only that Dan was told he was in the way. Of what we didn't know then. So here we are some years later and it has happend. Watch out for the tightening of the screws and don't drink any kool-aid.

Talent shows at the KH?
by skeeter1 inso, i know of a real talent show that took place at a kingdumb hall about 10 years ago.
there was never another talent show.
but, the jws all loved it and still talk about it.. is there a "rule" or something in the elder's manual about this?

I can't ever remeber anything other than JW business occurring in a KH. It would have been strictly forbidden anywhere I was associated. Not even a picnic table was allowed on the site. Dubland is terrified of lawsuits, so they would never "expose" themselves to the possibility of some thing happening during some pleasurable event.
Got to attend a few family nights over the years, they gradually became boasting sessions with little to enjoy from our perspective.
At one time branch dedications included performances of local music, etc. Heard that Ted "the boss" Jaracz was absolutely livid after a visit somewhere, and they put a stop of such "worldy" displays.

Proverbs 18:24
There exist companions disposed to break one another to pieces, but there exists a friend sticking closer than a brother.
Smiddy
This is one of my favorites. I used to work this into many a talk asking in some form or other "what kind of friend are you?". Good friends, those who love you regardless, are priceless and few.
Thanks for reminding us.

Why do folks feel it necessary to announce their departure from this board?
by SadElder ini don't post often, and rarely start topics.
but, i've often wondered why folks feel the need to post their departure from this board.
they're free to leave or fade, etc.

I don't post often, and rarely start topics. But, I've often wondered why folks feel the need to post their departure from this board. They're free to leave or fade, etc. whatever you choose to call it. So what is gained?

The Art of Writing
by Quendi ingore vidal's death tuesday in los angeles got me to thinking about writers.
i am a writer myself and i know there are many other writers on this forum.
i wanted to open a discussion on writing in the twenty-first century and get other thoughts, opinions and experiences on this.

With the advent of BTW, BFF, LOL etc. the writing skills of our populace has greatly diminished. How many even know about books like: Zinssers- On Writing Well or Stunk and White's - The Elements of Style?
I'm saying nothing about conversation sklls. Have you talked to a store clerk lately?
Guess I'm an old coot now.

Bethel: Pathway to Apostasy
by Black Man inat the 'big house' you go either one of two ways, company man or apostate.
i think for many that went, it demystified the whole organization and you saw firsthand that there wasn't holy spirit influencing anything - only the muses of sheltered, out-of-touch old men and political bureaucrats.
i work in the corporate world and i saw just as much if not more politics in bethel.

Balaam- considering he liked to come up to the room and drink my single-malt it was the least he could do. Course he did hem and haw and shuffle his feet a little.

Oh the days of Bethell "the house of god". While doing a special assignent stint, I got told not to leave my typewriter in our room out on the desk during the day. I told the stuffed shirt who was giving me this news to basically "get stuffed". I said we were just in Jack Barr's room last night and he had a typewriter. Get him down here and tell him the same thing right here and now in front of me. After his sputtering a few minutes, I asked him to ask the powers to be if they really wanted to tick me off, as we would be happy to get on the next plane out. I received a personal apology from George Couch that afternoon. What a bunch of idiots, can't believe we donated even one minute of our time.

COHI Towers Associates
by ErEf inin the story of barbara anderson she mentions cohi towers assiociates and she mentions them as very rich witnesses.. they bought buildings (standish hotel & bossert hotel) which where renovated (by voluntair witnesses presumably) and with goods of the wbts and afterwards sold to the watchtower.. is that the way some people gets even more rich?
is that the purpose of the organization?
is the selling/buying of these big buildings written down in archives?
