We were cautioned about saying "the Society says". Who said it then?
How about "bulletin board"? Oh no, it's the Information Board.
in my most recent talk, i got counseled for using some terms that were not prefered.
for example i said "new testament" rather than "the christian greek scriptures".
i also used the term "gospel", but even worse, i made reference to the "synoptic gospels" and the "gnostic gospel".. i guess i never thought of it before, but when i looked at the societies information on the matter they always say things like, "the so-called new testament..." or "the so-called synoptic gospels..." why with all the "so-called?".

here is a simple and obvious way to tell how effective jw.tv is going to be:.
in the past, how effective has religious tv been for you?
has watching religious tv made by moonies, evangelists, mormons or scientologists made you seriously reflect on spirituality?
Already the site is stale. The dubs better be prepared to post new material often if they want to keep people returning. It's only 5 days and my elderly mother is bored to death with it. To quote her, "it's a bunch of pablum for mental midgets."
since a previous thread is getting comments that this guy may become a new gb member, the topic above is worth pursuing.
here's what i found out by searching so far---in other words, not much.
surely others must know something about the guy.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/198944/1/william-malenfant-learn-from-me-mp3-trinidad-2010-zone-talk.
First met Bill Malenfant in the Washington DC area some where around 1968. I was just a young sadelder then. He and his wife (name esacpes me) were both warm and quite interested in the young people at the gathering we were attending. Later, when doing some special work at the Bethell around 1980, we crossed paths again. He was still the warm person I remembered. He was in the Service Department then, so I can't say what they have done to his outlook since then. He was under the the thumb of Ted "the boss" Jarascz, so anything could have happened.
for those on the board that are unfamiliar with marijuana, each strain of weed is given a name.
this particular one has my attention :).
today's special.......... save 20% off our featured strain......light of jah.
Made motel reservatons recently at a place in Estes Park, Co.. One of the things they mentioned on the phone was that they are a cannabis free facility. What a hoot.
korah and the faithful and discreet slave go hand in hand.
korah and sparlock.
if you do a search for the word, "korah" in the wt lib, the wt barely goes a month without showing into a wt or magazine about rebellious korah and applying it to themselves as being moses and if you question the authority of the gb, you'll be destroyed.
I always wondered about the fate of Korah... the scripture says they all went alive down to Sheol. Hence in dub speak they were not subject to Gehenna but are worthy of a resurrection since Sheol is mankind's common grave.
I've showed a few dubs that over the years and they are dumbstruck. They just don't have an explanation and I've never seen a comment from the Tower on this.
three months ago i had to stop driving my car.
it wouldn't pass inspection and it would cost about $3k to get it up to par.. well, it's a 98 honda accord with about 179 thousand miles on it, what did i expect?.
.. i decided i would switch to riding a bicycle instead.. it has worked out fairly well.. i put about 10 miles a day on it.
Sorry about your loss. In addition to pawn shops, check scrap yards. Someone may have scrapped it for the $2.00 worth of metal, not knowing the real value. Happened to us.

"for the two jehovahs witnesses conventions, each brought about 45,000 people to detroit, the bureau got $300,000 in state money to help with the cost of hosting the groups.".

Safeathome: In essence - yes. The ecomonic bureaus in many cities contribute in some way to draw in conventions not just the dubs. I'm not sure how this is done, whether a direct payment to the Watchtower or in reduced / free rental of facilities. This has been going on for some time now.Of course this is never mentioned to the rank and file who blithely run on dumping their bucks into the contribution boxes.
Don't forget the parkling lot scams. I remember a few years ago going to Daytona Beach, Fl and being unable to find a parking place in the facility lot. I had 3 paid for parking tickets in my posession, one for each of our cars and another I brought for someone else. We simply turned around and came home, never went back for that convention at all.
When will the blind eyes open to this mess?
i have written before about my jw friend that plays hookie with me on sundays.
we skip the meeting and go straight to lunch and margaritas.
she converted later in life and has been a jw for over 25 years.. she is in her late 70's and has had heart problems.
Not to mention that if she goes she will be personally liable for any damages, injuries, lawsuits that result from the placement of the dub carts. As always the Org will disavow any knowledge of their activities as these folks were doing a "personal ministry" not in any way connected with the Watchtower.

So if the Economic Development Corp. received $300,000 from the state to "help" with the cost, how much were they actually paid?
More and more it becomes quite evident that the real reason the dibs hold conventions is $$$$$.
i checked jw.org earlier today.
the october 1 wt was up, but the pdf function did not work-still you could read the articles.
the october g was up too, no pdf but you could read the articles.. oddly, after the article on belize it had an item about not missing the upcoming 2014 memorial of jesus' death.
Just downloaded pdf of Oct study edition, no problems. (6:25PM eastern)
Maybe they had a little glitch earlier.
