Walmart and Bethell places with the same attitudes towards workers.... it's a privilege for you to work here, we don't really need you but we'll tolerate and use you til someone else comes along. Guess the marriage fits.

Mark Sanderson Talk re Belgium visit
by Listener inthe degradation of the governing body members continues on.
mark sanderson gives a talk regarding his visit to belgium for the memorial this year and was travelling from korea to munich to brussels, belgium on the day of the belgium terrorist attacks.he cannot wipe the smirk on his face as he relates his experience, with no regard whatsoever of all those unfortunately affected by the attacks.
in fact, he personally found god's hand affecting him personally, allowing him to attend the memorial as planned and a kh dedication.he is that privileged during his flight travels that internet was available to him, enabling him to catch up on current news and to contact branch's.

Islam is a religion of peace (2)
by Coded Logic inin behalf of the horrific events of saturday night, i just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that islam is a religion of peace.
it doesn’t matter that the quran explicitly says that homosexuals should be stoned to death (7:84) - it’s still a religion of peace.
and it doesn’t matter that the scriptures say that all gay men should be killed (sunan 1:152) - islam doesn’t in anyway condone violence.. it doesn’t matter that every mainstream imam calls homosexuality a sin "worse the adultery" - it’s not a religion of bigotry.. it doesn’t matter that 61% of muslims in the uk think gay acts should be made illegal - islam has nothing against the gay community.. it doesn’t matter that countries with sharia law actively persecute the lgbt community - islam is all about peace and love.

JW Broadcasting reeks of desperation
by oldskool inagain, i'm a decade removed from the faith.
i'm catching up now, and can't believe what i'm seeing.. i get that jw leadership faced a dilemma.
there is no intellectual apparatus within the faith.

JOOKBEARD "never in my day either, a slide show public talk was ripped up black sacks stuck over the windows, how times have changed!"
I remember the days doing anything but standing up there blabbing was frowned upon. If your talk got too over the top for the old guard fuddy duddies or was given too much attention by the rank and file the other speakers would get quite jealous. I used to give a public talk about young people "How can youths cope with today's crisis?" One old fart elder told me once "I have that talk and it sure doesn't sound like that". I said "boy am I glad and so was the audience" and walked away leaving him standing there sputtering. I had used some recordings of kids talking about their problems and a few other things. I don't think I ever went on the platform again after that as I was already waking up.

As I bounced around the various videos for the upcoming conventions I was left with the feeling that this video attraction they think they've discovered is simply overdone. It's like a kid with a new toy. They'll play and play with it but eventually you find it laying in the corner with all the other discarded stuff they've become bored with.
I can't see the reason for some of the videos being inserted into the talks except to break up the monotony of the already boring pablum they're throwing at the audience. Instead it's like the monkeys at the zoo throwing feces.

Making fun of an elder, CO or GB'er, would it be considered brazen conduct or some other WT sin?
by oppostate inwould making fun of an elder, co or governing body member, be considered brazen conduct or some other wt sin, like apostasy?
.
is it an actionable judicial matter, even?.

by goingthruthemotions inso, talking with my wife yesterday.
she was out cart witnessing (barf) and one of the people she was with claimed to have know prince, or meet him or something like that.
well anyways...they or her or someone (they are all braindoogled) speculated or fantasized that since prince did not have any relatives or something or the other.

Hopefully he had his estate protected by something other than a will. An estate his size would be subject to the dreaded death (estate) tax absent any serious financial planning prior to death. Essentially the estate tax (roughly 50%) must be paid within 9 months from the date of the death of the decedent or the IRS comes calling for their money. There's loop holes but it tax some fancy foot work ahead of time. -

Did you participate in a Drama?
by Hecce ini am bringing this up because even it was a lot of work, for the majority of the friends this was a rewarding experience.
camaraderie, joking, costumes, props and when the time came the celebrity status of being in the drama.. back in the 50s and 60s, conventions could be as long as 8 days and from about 1966 the dramas became an integral part of the program.
we had one per day and the brothers looked forward to their presentation.

Thanks for refreshing the memory. I was working in the sound (then Public Address) department. All the Crooklyn heavies were there, as they believed this 'new" convention feature was the feather in their caps. I don't remember who the director of the Baltimore version was, maybe Norman Swift. I do know Ulyss Glass and Ed Dunlap were there.
I recall at one point during a time Freddie Franz was on the platform, the sound went dead. The poor sound guy on the stage had every microphone out there on the stage trying to find one that might work. Turns out the fellow working the mixer had turned and accidentally kicked the mixer's power plug loose. What a hoot.
Brought back many fond memories of friendships now long gone or dead.
