Unbelievable KMS example
by Saltheart Foamfollower ini've been to the kingdom ministry school (for elders) recently and can report that it is mostly the usual mix of cliches and platitudes.
several letters where basically just read through one line at a time.
one point early on though almost made me laugh out loud.

Is the Watch Tower giving out loans?
by The Poetry Of Reality ini originally posted this on the reddit exjw subreddit on 7 feb 2017. i think it's worth revisiting.
http://registerguard.com/rg/news/local/35255519-75/land-management-division-recommends-approval-of-gimpl-hill-subdivision.html.csp.
in 2008, they borrowed $1.87 million from the watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, the legal arm of the jehovah’s witnesses group, to start the project.

I've seen this somewhere before but don't remember where. Maybe here somewhere, but my searching failed me.
It is quite curious.

Sounds like damage control. Are they perhaps planning some other changes before then that need to be explained (defended)?

These couldn't be dubs
by SadElder inthis was posted on the christian century magazine yesterday.
don't know how these folks could be dubs and go to another church without getting caught by some busybody in dubland,.

Darkspilver you are correct. I took the mention of them in the same paragraph as dubs to include them as such. Couldn't imagine a couple of dubs going there unless they were such in name only.

Darkspilver I guess they claim to be Witnesses still if I read the article correctly. At least that's what the author called them. You know the JW congo where they live will go after them sooner or later. Can't have Witnesses attending some other church meeting can we now?

Watchtower Loses an Appeal
by TerryWalstrom inpublication court of appeal, fourth appellate district division one state of california osbaldo padron, plaintiff and respondent, v. watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc., defendant and appellant.findingwatchtower has abused the discovery process.
it has zealously advocated its position and lost multiple times.
yet, it cavalierly refuses to acknowledge the consequences of these losses and the validity of the court's orders requiring it to produce documents in response to request number 12. and, in a further act of defiance, watchtower informed the court that it would not comply with the march 25, 2016 order 39 requiring it to produce documents responsive to request number 12. the court, following lopez, supra, 246 cal.app.4th 566, as an incremental step toward terminating sanctions if watchtower persists in its unjustified conduct, imposed monetary sanctions.

Likely they will take this to a higher court if they can. They love to litigate and claim persecution when they lose.

Few of the dubs we knew involved themselves with the arts. Most looked at us oddly when we invite them to join us at concerts and the like. Now if it was a rock or country music group that would have been another story.
We're part of the founders group at the recently completed symphony facility and attend most concerts. Haven't seen one dub there in the last three years. Too bad for them.

Here is the word of the dubs on such a ghastly thing as a costume ball. The shame of it all.
*** w92 8/15 p. 19 par. 17 Social Entertainment—Enjoy the Benefits, Avoid the Snares ***
17 Fine oversight of a social gathering includes its planning and preparation. This does not require devising a catchy theme to make it unique or memorable but which would imitate worldly parties, such as costume balls or masquerade parties. Can you imagine faithful Israelites in the Promised Land planning a party where all were to dress like pagans in Egypt or another land? Would they plan sensuous dancing or wild music that might be the rage among pagans? Back at Mount Sinai, they did get ensnared in music and dancing such as may have been current and popular in Egypt. We know how God and his mature servant Moses viewed that entertainment. (Exodus 32:5, 6, 17-19) Hence, the host or overseer of a social event should consider whether there will be any singing or dancing; and if so, he should be sure that it is consistent with Christian principles.—2 Corinthians 6:3.
