  The August Study Watchtower: what is the big deal?

  i have been following a number of posts discussing the august watchtower study magazine.

  i really don't believe this common idea being passed around that it's being timed for the annual meeting.

  here's why.. the august watchtower will be available on servers not long before its public release.

  I'll be interested to watch to see how they tap the dubs to pay for all this. Is a jw.org pay channel in the offing? Whatever it is you can bet they have all the plans laid out to collect the money.

  Do JWs Get Excited About WT Publications Any More?

  memory from long ago: my old mate from high school lived next door to a jw and was often "treated" to the latest jw literature.

  when the "you can live forever in paradise on earth"* book came out, this neighbour waxed lyrical about how good this book was and how powerful the message was.

  he acted really keen about it, like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

  Have the dubs actually published any new books other than fluff books? The last book releases I see are in 2022.

  i get a few good laughs from the ex-jw facebook site: " ex jw humor will set you free".. i was laughing over dinner with 3rd gen over this post tonight: "question for the audience: i was driving around today and it hit me...there are big falsehoods (armageddon etc.

  ) that we were told, but also ridiculous falsehoods.

  what is your favorite ridiculous falsehoods?

  Turning one scripture (Matt 24:45) into an entire belief system and thereby setting up the GB as some type of royalty.

  Need help identifying a book

  hello all.. i could use some help identifying the title of a wt book that i read back in the early 90's.

  it was an older book when i read it.

  i wish that i could recall more than i do.

  They'll scan it and add it to a digital file under your name and forget it. They aren't interested and like the folks in the field will slam the proverbial door in your face.

  If Jesus was not enthroned as King in 1914, what does this do to the faithful and discreet slave appointment of the modern day governing body? The entire belief system is wrecked for them.

  Hotels for convention

  a department in bethel wants to try to make money from regional conventions by asking local hotels if they will give a special rate and a coupon code to give to jws.. .

  they should just keep it simple and not be greedy for dishonest gain.. .

  this year some convention sites the hotels said no thank you i think the jws are going to book with us anyway.

  I don't know about now but in times past when booking rooms for the conventions we asked the hotel sales agent or manager how many comp rooms would we get. It was based on the number of rooms booked in. Those comp rooms either went to visiting 'dignitaries' or if unused would be put out to dubs who would pay the convention for the value of the room.

  They will post uber elders to watch who goes to the blocked hotels and then harass the dubs for going there.

  on the watchtower website it says that most of the work that will be done fishkill will be out sourced to non jws .i thought that jws always used to build everything them selves.

  this might explain what happend to ramapo they put an appeal out for free labour and people said no .

  In Brooklyn in order to appease the unions among other things, they used to use an outside contractor for any major construction that was outwardly visible. Sorry the contractor's name escapes me.
