... so sad about Prince ...
this is my first post.. when i was still a witness myself, there were some perennial stories regarding 'famous' jehovahs witnesses or ex's.
does anyone know any truth or have any proof about the following: hank marvin, cliff richard and more importantly, the man who hit the gong in the 'rank' movies?.
if you have anyone of note you want to tell me about, i'd most appreciate it too.. cheers, rush.

to all those people out there who keep referring to the noble name as "micheal", desist, i say!.
it's not "micheal", it's "michael"!.
meaning: he who is, or like, god.

you decide, but IMO, neither is wrong
who among you is reading east of eden, oprah's book club selection?
(because, of course, reading is no fun unless there's a huge corporate media conglomerate backing you up ...).
is it just me, or do any of you think it's strange, almost disturbing, to see a bunch of people, almost entirely pre-or-post menopausal women, waving this book over their heads, screaming with the same sort of unbridled glee exhibited on, say, a drabby-housewife-makeover episode?.
mulan - yes, that is where my alias comes from. i love the arthurian legend and the merlin & arthur are my favorite characters. i just loved the whole thing abt the avalon training, the relationship of vivianne & taliesin trying to keep the old religion alive, etc., etc.
i tried to pm you, but ended up sending the message to myself (DOH!) haven't quite figured that one out yet.
there's an excellenet series of books by diana gabaldon - can't remember the names of the books offhand. about a 1940s woman who bumps her head and falls through a ring of standing stones in scotland. when she wakes up, she is back in the 1400s(?) just before the jacobean revolution. it's a really great story.
check it out.
are you confused?
have you asked your lady friends and female relatives what you are doing wrong and even though you have followed their advice, you are still confused?
have you asked your girl friends what they want and done it and still not know what is going on?
maverick, good points. my problem is, i don't have two clues of the dating/relationship game either. is it bec i am ex-jw? maybe it's not a male/female problem as much as it is that some of us just don't know how the whole thing works cause we didn't go through the high school dating rituals? i personally have to work hard to resist 'taking the whole thing too seriously'.
whaddya think?
do you remember any poems you learned by heart at school?
well, go on, recite it.... i remember this very short one:.
"a ball of fur, inhabited by purr" now that is the shortest poem i ever heard.
my ABSOLUTE fav
robert frost
'walking by woods on a snowy evening"
also, (and i know it's mushy, but what the heck, i'm a romantic)
lord byron
'she walks in beauty'
ps. oh wow man, 'the highway man came riding, riding, riding'
didn't memorizing that just ruin the poem for you?
... any thoughts?

east of eden - a great read, although it's been abt 10 yrs since i read it.
re oprah, at least she's a 'role model' who's got millions reading. and, yes, all the profits from said merchandise do go to charity.
mulan - mists of avalon is one of my top 10 books. what a coincidence you mentioned it as i just watched the movie last nite. i thought the movie left out a lot actually. for instance, all of morgaine's training, how they made the robes from the specially dyed blue thread. the relationships were not really well explored. on the whole, though, a pretty good flick. i think it wud have been better as a mini-series, but they're not too popular these days. it was 'accurate', but imho, not enough detail to really 'get' the story.
if you liked the author, she has written abt 30-40 other sci-fi fantasy books - i suggest the "Darkover" series. they don't have to be read 'in sequence. you'll either love or hate them.
HAPPY READING TO ALL!!

bw - that's how i feel. tks for understanding
maverick - i wasn't assuming you are bitter - i said "sounds like you may be bitter (read hurt). sorry if i tramped on your toes. hmm... why is it only males are invited to pm you and find out the secret? i'm kinda interested cause i find i get the same crap from men that you are apparently getting from women, not cause i want to criticize.
i think both sexes play games. the question is what game is each individual playing and what is their intent? are they just flailing around trying their best to attract a mate or is their intention to use and abuse?
it's challenging to try to figure what someone's real motives are (eg. sex, love, a notch on the lipstick case). if you can provide some insight into the 'male psyche', that would be a bonus. however, i lean towards (no it's not written in stone) the idea that men & women are all individuals and some are users and some are not.
whaddya really think?
[Ha! (she says with a sly grin) the gauntlet has been thrown!]
do you believe that there is life right now on other planets?
how can we be alone since the universe is endless?
if god does exist, why did he create all of that, if man will never go there?
gerard - i like your viewpoint - it allows room for all theories

nope, no believin for me, not in the 'we got here from the swamp', or 'we were created', OR 'we were planted'.
all jokin aside, the only thing i 'know' is we're here now, and darn it, i'm trying to make the best of it.
nonetheless, speculation can be interesting. (btw, seen "chariots of the gods" lately?)
.
it's vancouver for winter 2010. but bad luck for our toronto 2012 summer olympic !.
jwsons
tks, rb for the info session on canada
it always amazes me that so few know so little about our country. the 'frozen north' - ha ha. my friend in Yellowknife lives on a houseboat. it's 86 deg here right now (@ 1:22 am). btw, i'm not in yellowknife.
even so, i don't want the summer olympics. the pope's visit and the grand prix was enuf for me.
hamas, no offense intended. it's not 40-45 deg here, just 30-35. we do NOT ski in the winter (except for the mountain regions, like everywhere else in the world). we DO have hot summers. and some regions (particularly some parts of BC) don't even usually have snow in winter!
'the frozen north' is mostly an american national fiction abt their cdn neighbors which has been propagated by the PRESS, not the US people, to make fun of us.
rb - i won't say what i'm not wearing, but wud be sweating profusely if not for the cool ocean breeze we get here at this time of nite.
