jehovahs witnesses two-witness rule is applied by elders when a witness member accuses another member of a sin, even if that sin is a criminal act.
if there arent two witnesses to the accusation, it goes nowhere, including not being reported to the authorities.
and in the case of an allegation of child abuse, the accused is free to molest again.. watchtower attorney, jim mccabe, recently stated this about jehovahs witnesses two-witness rule which he described as a bible-based belief :.
Very interesting! At this point, it's a purely legalistic battle (there is no question in any reasonable person's mind, that they are morally wrong), and the Society's own counsel may have been a predictor of things to come. This is ironic, since the disfellowshipping is (or was, back in the 70s) for 'bringing reproach on Jehovah's name'. The WTS certainly got a good spanking for bringing reproach on Jehovah's name in the Conti case - let's hope it continues.

The difference being, that Jehovah's Witnesses systematically cover up child rape, and molestation of every kind. They have, for many years, condemned the Catholic Church for moving its pedophiles from church to church. The WTS does the same thing with Special Pioneers and COs who are child rapists.
Also, the WTS fails to report when it is legally mandated by the state. That is a crime - the statutes vary from country to country, and state to state, but Clergy are considered in the same light as Teachers - they are obligated to report.
Pedophiles (even convicted ones who are deemed 'repentant' by a body of elders) are permitted to go from door-to-door, representing themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses. Members of the congregations are NOT warned that a pedophile has close access to their children. Indeed, if YOUR child is raped, and there are not two witnesses, YOU can be disfellowshipped for warning other parents and thereby slandering the Brother or Sister who offended them, as far as Jehovah's Organization is concerned.
It's a CULT!

Plaintiff John Doe I, during ages 11 to 14 endured sexual abuses: forced to perform oral sex on 3 men when he was 12 years old;
Well, there was more than ONE abuser involved, and I believe the original article I saw (FOX news) mentioned that.
There may be much more to this story. I'm not going to say what I am thinking, but no big surprise it is from the DFW area.

out of the blue, my wife told me that after this week's service meeting on friday (co visit) she is not going to anymore meetings during the week at night.
only sunday (am) meetings.
she explained that it is difficult and not safe for her to drive after dark (vision issues: i have the same problem so i couldn't help her if i wanted to).
Ya know what? Maybe if you get to know one another (which JWS rarely do), things will change. Maybe she likes to play board games, or XBox, or hey, dance! You just never had a chance to try out those things.
Hey, and most men don't think to just ask - so do NOT beat yourself up for that! Don't get stuck on the 'good provider' stuff - if you have a problem with your vision, and life is tough - it's not your fault. Guilt is a relationship destroyer. Be the best man, the best person you can be, and if you can work as a team, there can be much love and laughter in a poor home. My Grammy taught me that - never did she guilt Grampy because he went blind, and they made it through the hardships by sticking together. It does not make a person 'less', to be sick - screw those who treat you that way!
Hmm, only you can know if there is and was ever that spark. Good marriages can be built, and love can grow. All you can do is give it a try, and see if you grow closer together.

hi everyone, im begining to notice patterns of mental issues in the congregations and among the witnesses as a group.
do you think this is a trend in the entire world or is it exagerated in this organization?.
.
DOC - depends on the browser, and hey, must we be grammar nazis? really? :)
Enzo - I see what your point. Here in North America, we "count" curable illness. Clinical depression is a very real MI, and yes, it can be cured and treated. I don't understand why you would not consider it a mental illness? Perhaps this is a cultural thing.
Here in North America, we do go a bit far with the depression 'thing', imho. I have a friend whose doctor prescribed anti-depressants 3 months after his wife died. That is so wrong! We are supposed to be depressed when someone dies. On the other hand, some people struggle with depression for the very reason you list - their body does not produce seratonin (which is also causally linked to a lack of melatonin - oh, it gets complicated!). That being said, depression can result in the most drastic - suicide - but can cause many somatic illnesses. It is also noted in studies that depression *may* contribute to the growth of cancer, to auto-immune diseases, heart disease, and well, that's what I can think of at this moment.
The depression that can be caused by cognitive dissonance (CD) is widespread among the JW community. If you understand CD, then think of it this way.
You can trust No One in the world unless the are JW - not even your unbelieving parent! You never have time for yourself (ie, taking a weekend to go fishing is wrong - time is short, we must preach!) You are NEVER good enough. You are the Happiest Person on Earth! Jehovah protects his people.
Meanwhile, you are going to school and work, and observing that OTHER ,,, *worldly* .... people seem to be happy. They abhor Satan worship (sorry to any Satanists on board, don't take it personally), or so they say.
AND they do Christian acts! Your logical mind keeps saying "But mr. Smith next door is a good person!" but the religion has made you believe they are EVIL.
There is a constant battle in your head, between your belief system, and the reality that you see every day. It's enough to drive a person crazy, literally.
I do not expect or want/need you to agree, just for the sake of discussion, because hey, that's a great way to learn. :)

a poster on another thread reminded me of when there was a 15 min.
break between the talk and the wt study on sundays.
the break was supposed to be to allow jw's time to drive their bible studys home from the talk.
Aw, you know I love ya, gal!

I like the song. In my adulthood, I grew to like country music, though always a rocker first.
This struck me - remembering when I was young, and talking to a friend about the Jehovah's Witness gurls. He said "They are so shiny and bright! That's what attracted me to you." (though I was out by then for a few years, i was still shiny, I guess)
The 'good' JW gurl does not smoke nor drink. She has the 'virginal' shyness and is unattainable - if she is pretty, every guy wants to make her into his Madonna/Whore. That is the way it goes .......
Also, the Jehovah's Witness gurls are up on current fashion - the competition for 'best in clothes' at the assemblies is legendary, and how could any average 'worldly' gurl compete? The JW gurl has nothing else in her life except her appearance, and her subservience to Jehovah and her lord and master Father or Husband.
Good song. Captures the spirit of the Jehovah's Witness gurl very nicely.
Thanks UC, good post, and very nice to see you!
