You made me nostalgic for the movie but it's a long way from thrash. :P
Share some vids you love. :))

i have always loved heavy metal music (thrash metal to be more specific).
since heavy metal is usually associated with satan and occult themes many christians and jws in particular stray away from it.
in my teenagehood i was listened to it obsessively until i started studying and got baptized at age 18 and i started listening to other genres.

no doubt you have heard about the nurse that thumbed her nose to the state and went out of the house in spite of being ordered to stay at home.
what is your opinion on this?.
.
I'll have to find some stuff online, as I don't have TV. This is getting interesting. I think that as a Presidential candidate, he would be quite entertaing to watch in the race. I wonder who would run on his ticket? hmmm........ anyhow, back to the nurse, and her 15 minutes. ;P

let me start off by acknowledging that my current mood/thoughts reflect the fact that ive watched a few documentaries recently (blackfish, surviving progress, etc.
) and they got me thinking about the future of mankind.
mainly the question, do i hold out hope for the future of mankind?.
I think that Western civilization is in decline, and that is part of a natural cycle. The world will carry on, and so will humanity. Of course, like Gregor said, humans could cause a catastrophic event (growing up during the Cold War, I never lived in fear because of the naval base - I knew there would be instant nuking, so never concerned myself :P), but we have no control over that.

i do apologize for my extreme ignorance, but i am curious.. who the hell are honey boo boo, sugar bear and mama june??.
and more to the point.. why the hell are some americans so obsessed with them?.
i just don't get it.. .

I live in Canada's Appalachian Region. In one part of my province, we had the same culture of coal-mining, the company store, the whole nine yards. A proud people who are able to laugh in the worst of times, and make the best of things. It takes a lot of courage to go down in the mines, and my admiration for these people is strong, in spite of some of the, shall we say, social problems that may still exist in some areas. Have you seen the movie, Bastard Out of Carolina? I'd like to read the book. There has been, and will continue to be abuse, in all parts of the country, and it's a sad thing that other people enjoy looking down their nose on these proud and fiercely independent people of your regoin.

Only in America. This person has sure made a big news splash, and unfortunately, it's ramped up the fear factor.
Whatever is known/nor known about the virus, sheesh ... she had 21 days off, I'm sure with pay, and could have just said "what the hell, I know I'm not contagious, but I'll consider this a paid vacation."
Instead, she had to have her RIGHTS! How bourgeousie. PPPHHHT!
Stir the pot, drum up the fear,,, good job.

when i was a hyperactive kid, i used to like boxing, and of course muhammad ali.
he was a great athlete, with a one-of-a-kind style who made a stand for his beliefs.. now that i'm older, i admire athletes that are quieter and get on with the job in hand - joe frazier, for example.. i'd like to put american racial politics and ali's tragic current condition to one side and focus on the following:.
how good a fighter was ali?.
The last fight I watched was Ali-Spinx. I remember when he punched Spinx' jaw and the blood flew - his whole face moved. Like some other folk, I think that he would let Tyson tire, then BAM! Also, Ali would have the psychological advantage over Tyson, wayyy over.
What about Ali vs Jack Johnson? Now, that would be something. Same style of fighting, and, I believe, a more even match, both physically and psychologically.
There's a great documentary about the Ali-Foreman fight "When We Were Kings".

according to scripture, none of them ever met jesus.
i was a jw for 20 years and i never knew this!
i thought they were all apostles!
PS. I had to read the Bible cover-to-cover before I got dunked at age 14, too. What a snore-fest that was at times. But still, I never picked up on that.

I was a born-in, and was forced to study WT publications from sunrise to sunset when I wasn't in school, cleaning offices/home, or preaching, for the first 17 years of my life. I was never taught that, and even now, it's NEWS to me! Of course, I haven't picked up a Bible in over 35 years except to reference some posts here, and tear out a couple of pages in the back to use as rolling papers. :P
I did know about Paul, of course, being converted on the road to Damascus. Who could forget Paul? The first Xtian misogynist, and a leader of the movement! I wonder what Jesus would have thought of Paul's hatred of women? Paul probably would've had Mary Magdalene receive 40 lashes less one, or whatever the punishment for prostitution that he deemed fit.
