Yes, I remember Mashn makan. My first live band was Crowbar. They played in my school auditorium. Ah, the 70s ..... :D
Lighthouse had a good 70s sound, with a typically Canadian stong-front-man sound ...By 1976, I had left the JW. and by 1980, I could fully appreciate their music, as did a whole generation of Canadians. :P
Sunny Days
Sittin' stoned alone in my backyard
Askin' myself "Why should I work so hard?"
Sittin' dreamin' 'bout the days to come
Half-undressed, just soakin' up the sunSittin' here, I hope I don't get fried
Two years ago, you know, I almost died
And yet, there's nothin' better for your soul
Than lyin' in the sun and listenin' to rock 'n rollSunny days
Oh, sunny, sunny, sunny days
Ain't nothin' better in the world, you know
Than lyin' in the sun with your radioSunny days
Oh, sunny, sunny, sunny days
Ain't nothin' better in the world, you know
Than lyin' in the sun with your radioI really think there's nothin' quite so fine
As lettin' the sun rejuvenate your mind
Don't get me wrong, I really dig the moon
But it was four in the afternoon when I wrote this tuneAnd now the sun's about to fade away
I'm feelin' better than I've felt for days
You know, there's nothin' better for your soul
Than lyin' in the sun and listenin' to rock 'n rollSunny days
Oh, sunny, sunny, sunny days
Ain't nothin' better in the world, you know
Than lyin' in the sun with your radioSunny days
Oh, sunny, sunny, sunny days
Ain't nothin' better in the world, you know
Than lyin' in the sun with your radio.....
Sunny days
Oh, sunny, sunny, sunny days
Ain't nothin' better in the world, you know
Than lyin' in the sun with your radioSunny days
Oh, sunny, sunny, sunny days
Ain't nothin' better in the world, you know
Than lyin' in the sun with your radioDa da-da da-da da da da
Da da-da da-da da da da
Da da-da da-da da da da
Da-da da-da da-da da-da daaaaaa-aaaa
Well, all right!* cough, cough *

Some Buddhist ways of thinking are, for me, very helpful in life's journey. Still, I choose to remain godless, and will tell you straight-up that although I like some of the attitutudes (See my quote in bold above) , I would never want to be, nor would I claim to be, of the Buddhist Faith.
I am a straight-up, G*dless, heathen!

New Hope
Cool. That's the way I see it, too. (in general terms, yes .. we may express ourselves differently)
Determine what enriches your life, and those you love, while ehhanciing the lives of others, and embrace it.
(bold is mine, and not a quote)
Namaste. :)

Heavy metal
by Godsendconspirator ini have always loved heavy metal music (thrash metal to be more specific).
since heavy metal is usually associated with satan and occult themes many christians and jws in particular stray away from it.
in my teenagehood i was listened to it obsessively until i started studying and got baptized at age 18 and i started listening to other genres.

Does The State Have The Right To Quarantine Someone Because They Might Have Ebola?

I'll have to find some stuff online, as I don't have TV. This is getting interesting. I think that as a Presidential candidate, he would be quite entertaing to watch in the race. I wonder who would run on his ticket? hmmm........ anyhow, back to the nurse, and her 15 minutes. ;P

Do you have hope for mankind?
by noontide inlet me start off by acknowledging that my current mood/thoughts reflect the fact that ive watched a few documentaries recently (blackfish, surviving progress, etc.
) and they got me thinking about the future of mankind.
mainly the question, do i hold out hope for the future of mankind?.

I think that Western civilization is in decline, and that is part of a natural cycle. The world will carry on, and so will humanity. Of course, like Gregor said, humans could cause a catastrophic event (growing up during the Cold War, I never lived in fear because of the naval base - I knew there would be instant nuking, so never concerned myself :P), but we have no control over that.

Mum
I live in Canada's Appalachian Region. In one part of my province, we had the same culture of coal-mining, the company store, the whole nine yards. A proud people who are able to laugh in the worst of times, and make the best of things. It takes a lot of courage to go down in the mines, and my admiration for these people is strong, in spite of some of the, shall we say, social problems that may still exist in some areas. Have you seen the movie, Bastard Out of Carolina? I'd like to read the book. There has been, and will continue to be abuse, in all parts of the country, and it's a sad thing that other people enjoy looking down their nose on these proud and fiercely independent people of your regoin.
