Is it worth upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7?
by nicolaou ini'm running vista home premium on my dell inspiron.
dell custom build to your requirements and i went for 4gb of ram from the start (almost 2 years ago).
i know vista has been much maligned but honestly, i've had no problems with it.

I think i remember this thread, but ,,,,,,,,,,,,,just my 2.
Windows 7 is not a bad OS; Windows 8 is no more than an updated version of Vista. If you have a registered copy of W7, power to ya! Even Win98 (one of Windows' best OS) may serve you better than Win8.
Ack - why would anyone have Vista. oh well. : ))

Why do animals suffer?
by nicolaou inbonnie is fourteen years old now and she's still fit and active, but she sleeps (and farts) a lot more and is definitely slowing down.. she loves us in her own dumb way and always comes to the door to greet me when i get home from work.
she doesn't 'sin' but yeah, she'll steal biscuits and feel shame afterwards.
she's loyal and intelligent and i dread the day when .

kaik, he's a beauty! You 'struck a chord' with me (ie, touched my heart), when you talked about how he greets you.
I remember walking home from the bus stop, and when I got close (2-3 houses away), would hear my gurl calling from the window. She would hear the thump of my cane / cast coming down the street. When I got in front of the house, I would see her, pressed up against the screen. By the time I walked up the outside stairs to the side entrance of my flat, and opened the door, she would be there, saying "Where have you been?", and curling in and out of my legs, purring, then running up the stairs to her food dish! hahaha, you evoked some beautiful memories, thank you! xx
I will post a picture of my Precious Blue. : ))

Are Magicians Spawns of Satan the Devil?
by Cold Steel ini was perusing the internet not long ago and came upon this series of videos by a guy calling himself xendrius.
it declares that many of today's best magicians are in league with the devil.
his claims are based on his observation that the tricks would be impossible to do unless the magicians had made unholy pacts with the devil.. so what's the take of the wtbts?

Thanks GOD JW's don't have Beauty Pageants
by James Mixon ini can see it now, we are the most beautiful and smartest people in the world.. steve harvey will never be the host of another beauty pageant.
lol.
i was thinking, don't you think it's time for our society to move on from beauty pageants?.

Also I believe focusing on physical beauty can be bad for younger children and child beauty pageants,
well while the whole eduction system is in the toilet here in the US as the interest of the child is
diverted to some irrelevant beauty pageant.
How do you folks feel about Beauty pageants???I think that the proliferation of CHILDREN, dressed up in Mae West-type makeup and hair, is deplorable.
Little girls are not meant to be held by such rigorous standards of behaviour for ANY reason. That's not even taking into account the 'pedophile connection'.
Think, for a moment, of the movie "Stand by Me". You know, it's about the boys going in search of a body (and yes, the short story was called "The Body" by the master, Steven King).
Umm, when I was growing up, in the 60s, girls did this stuff too! We were what was referred to as "Tom boys" .... and it was the norm! Some girls were into girly-things, some not, and some --- (SHOCK AND AWE) were in-between!
It sickens me to see a 5, 9, or 14 YO tarted-up with make-up, and made to perform - and no, not the 'fun' kind of dress-up, but rigorous training, painful hair treatments, etc. is extremely twisted. Let them be a child! Stop watching them on TV because it fascinates you --- instead, write a letter to the producers.
That's all. xx

Basic Principles for Forum Moderation
by Simon ina perennial issue for any online forum is moderation and applying rules.
we have a set of community guidelines and posting guidelines that are intended to make clear what is and isn't acceptable but this tends to focus on the obvious standards of behavior for, well, obvious reasons.
it's easy to talk about people being aggressive or insulting etc... as those are common and clearly unwanted behaviors and the typical issue for online communities - the most likely things to come up.. does this mean that everything *not* on the list is allowed?

I've always said "This is Simon's coffee shop (or pub if you prefer), and as I would in any venue, I respect the owner's rules". The End.
Thanks for providing the venue, Simon (and to your family, and of course, the other mods). I know that at times, if seems like a thankless effort, but you know, that's not really true, right? xx

They say it's demonic. And that is one of their most fallacious teachings, because "everyone knows" that magic is tricks! Just watch "The Prestige".
Eed-jits! :P
