New York Times article Dec 31 2015
by Gayle inhttp://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/01/nyregion/stalled-brooklyn-park-exposes-rift-with-religious-group.html?_r=0.
jehovahs witnesses have been criticized by community leaders for not fixing up parks in dumbo, brooklyn, as promised.

“They are the biggest land tycoons in my neighborhood,” Doreen Gallo, the executive director of the Dumbo Neighborhood Alliance, said. “They got to flip commercial manufacturing land for residential developments and now they are flipping it again and leaving.”
...
Nevertheless, as the Jehovah’s Witnesses pack up to move to Warwick, N.Y., some neighborhood advocates, like Tucker Reed, the president of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, are demanding they do more than just spruce up the park. Mr. Reed said they should give the city a percentage of whatever their real estate reaps. “These sales windfalls — and resulting development — make clear that it’s time for the Witnesses to give something back to the neighborhood that fostered their growth and bankrolled their future,” Mr. Reed wrote in an opinion piece in Crain’s New York.[bold is mine]

10 Years On...
by done4good injust a note that 10 years ago, (christmas day, 2005), was my last time inside a kh.
a lot has taken place for the better in those 10 years:.
1. met the love of my life and happily married for 9 years, two days ago.. 2. completed a master's degree.. 3. work at senior management level in the it field.. 4. have a savings and retirement, and no debt outside of a mortgage and 1 car loan.. 5. lots of travel to several places that i never would have done as a jw.. 6. contribute to what i believe are meaningful causes.. 7. read, think, and meditate for myself.. 8. have a great extended family i inherited from my wife.. 9. lots of other great stuff, too much to list.. none of this is intended to be boastful.

Next year will be a very tough year for me
by never a jw inmy new year resolution is to invest more of my time with my family and friends.

i want to thank all of you because my time here, posting and reading, have been a great learning experience.

All the best! We have learned from you, too. You can make a big difference to your retirement if you start now - 15 or 20 years left. It's never too late. xx -

1. I will remain an atheist, and fail to return to the 'one true God'.
2. There will be zero miracles in 2016.
3. New light will shine, and Jah's people will need to strive even harder, give even more ...
4. Armaggedon will continue to be 'just around the corner'.
5. Pigs will NOT fly.

Why do girls have a hymen?
by JWchange inif you believe humans evolved, and were not created, why would having a hymen help, especially as no other mammal has one?
if you believe humans were created by {a} god, or intelligent beings with advanced technology, what was the reason for a hymen?
i'm interested to hear your thoughts on this unusual subject, not many people talk about..

Unlike you I never make personal attacks
The use of absolutes, such as *always* and *never*, often denotes intellectual dishonesty, as absolutes can rarely apply to human behavour and therefore, are innately false and/or gross exaggeration. ; )
