Honestly, Did Jehovah's Witnesses Do Anything POSITIVE For You?
by minimus ini was raised as a witness and am very thankful that i am out.
having said that, i think my upbringing produced positive qualities in me.
do you believe that anything positive came from your being a witness?

I rarely post on my facebook about JW at all, but a couple of times a year, I will share a bit of crazy with my friends. This will be my first of 2016.
My Xtian friends will most likely say WTF? And my fellow atheists will be laughing. Thanks, I needed to do something this week. Reading about another victim of this DEATH CULT, 25 years old! I can't take any more. I just can't. xx tal -

Computer Techies - Question
by ShirleyW inthis laptop of mine will be a month old this week, i don't even know how many help desk calls i've made for certain things, but today, as the same thing happened just two weeks ago they ran the cleaner and malwarebytes and lord know what else.
so every two weeks is this what i have to look forward with the new laptop?
i know they say to be careful of the sites you go to, which are the same sites i went to on the old nine year old laptopthat runs the almost outdated vista, never had to call in just about every other week for that one, btw, it's windows 10 and mostly use firefox on the new one..

Even though they *say* Windows Defender works, it SUCKS. So get a better anti-virus (AVG is my choice, too).
And what Cappy said - Chrome + AdBlocker will get rid of the ads. Some sites won't let you access, but you can decide to allow site-by-site if you choose.

"Even if it isn't the truth, it's still the best way to live"
by Simon inhave you heard that old chestnut?
i have.. typically it's the last resort when you have dismantled a jws beliefs and they have no way of defending them.
they know they are beat so they come out with that one.. its effectively an admission that you are right and they have no argument but they are still going to attend meetings because they like the social club.. what a lame way to defend your faith..

Magnum, okay, I see the 'maybe', and thanks for the reply. So, I raised the question, and yeah, it's debatable. We didn't even touch on it being a death cult (blood transfusions) and their institutionalized hatred of gays and lesbians.
It's tough - but for me, neither the R&F nor the rule-makers can take *any* sort of high moral ground. Nope. -

If you went back in time, would you be a god?
by Simon inwe just finished watching outlander which is about a woman who goes back in time ~200 years from the end of wwii.
she ends up in the scottish highlands in the middle of the jacobite uprising.
it's a great show although the last episodes were a little graphic (they make game of thrones seem like sesame street).. but it got me thinking ... if you went back in time would you in fact be the 'god' you may imagine because of your knowledge of modern technology and the future?.

Claire was lucky in that as a nurse of the time, she had skills in caring for wounds and other such things that made her useful. The books were awesome, haven't watched season 2 of the series yet, but OY OY OY, they are doing a great job.
I'd rather be like Lisa Simpson and have my very own world (petri dish). : D -

Did you KNOW Ray and Cynthia or the legal copyright holder? Only a few maybe had limited contact.
by blondie ini have known all of them over the last 15 years, talked at length with them, and knew what their wishes were, the copyright holder and spouse spent even more time with them socially and helping them set up their arrangements for when ray and cynthia passed.
i don't believe that anyone else on this board or others was a confidant.
there is no need to prove it to anyone but the copyright office which is satisfied with this.

There's a copy at my public library. Don't other English-speaking countries have libraries?

DY - The fact is, that if you only socialize with 'work friends', you are not choosing friends by common interest. You are in another forced situation. It can't be compared to having the freedom to associate freely with people we may personally relate to, and can be found in special interest clubs, the gym, volunteering jobs, and yes, at work..
Magnum - You think the JWS live a more 'moral' lifestyle, really? Did your fingers just type that? They are no different - smokers, tons of alcoholics, drug users, and adulterers - they just hide it, and hang out in their own little cliques. Secret's safe with them! The 'good' JWS often have not a clue of what's really going on.

i also find it very self-righteous and egotistical. They like to pretend that the only honest and good people on the planet are JWS. In fact, they are the same as everyone else - good, bad and indifferent. xx
