Do you work part time at one job? And pay your own rent? AND eat *real food*?
Just curious ..........
damn, I shouldn't have kept reading, now I want to reply to EVERYONE .......... lol, good night!
:P
wal-mart, which pays a top wage of $12.00+ to its full-time employees, is under attack, once again, by its employees and those who would like to unionize them.. i can't speak to the usa, but here in canada, most wal-mart employees are not full time.
it is mostly a part-time employer, so zero benefits.
in my opinion, that makes the $12.00+ look a lot smaller when you envision the actual paycheque.

adjusted knowledge --- from page 1 - I'm not sure what you are upset about. I said 12+,which I had read in several places, and indeed, you said this:
Walmart will claim an average pay of around $12.92 an hour.
So, what's your beef? You even state that you feel the median wage is closer to $10/hour, which is even less than my "$12.00+" figure.
.
Also, did you note that my benefits comment was limited to CANADA - read my OP, in which I clearly state "here in Canada". So, are you talking about the USA when you say that 60% are full time and have all these benefits? Or Canada?
I've only read page 1, and it's plain to see that this is a relevant discussion.
TT2C and JeffT, yes, agree with both of your comments. TT2C - wages *is* an issue - it's hard to work on a hungry belly. And people who have not endured long-term hunger pangs, well, it's like having a baby - they don't understand. Jeff, yeah, though my boycott was steadfast, in the past year I've had to buy some food at Wal-Mart. The rise in prices (you wouldn't believe it - we pay at least double what you pay), combined with a fixed income and special diet, have sadly, force me to spend about $25/month there. :( It's a compromise of principles, I realize that many people have to make. If I had kids to feed, I would be first in line at Wal-Mart! We all do what we can.
Okay, I must rest, but more replies later.
Great discussion so far, folks.

PS. I had to look up analogous (the word, ack). I hate my bad memory, and *sigh* have always had conceptual issues with the colour wheel. It works best when I'm 'just mixing'. ;) Tks.

Edit: Now, after reading that, I was initially thinking "secondary",,,,,,,, no that's too easy!

Umm, LV 101.
There are 3 primary colors - Red, Blue and Yellow.
Green is made by mixing Blue and Yellow, and is not a primary colour. Orange is made by combining Red and Yellow, and is also not a primary. Its complementary colour would mainly be comprised of Blue, but mixed with yellow.
Now, I did get my term wrong "complementary" ,,,,,,,, I should have said analogous. Green and Orange are both analogous (mixed from primary colors) and complementary. Green & purple (red & blue) are complementary colors. Orange and Aqua (blue and yellow) are complementary colours.
Sorry for the mistake. I am a painter, but also get terms mixed, and it makes me crazy. Sorry.

Blue is considered a colour of healing by indigenous people in my part of the world. It kinda fits in with this.
Also, I remember learning years ago, that green is a restful colour. I know that is one way to find peace - lying on the grass, looking up into the sea of green that is a maple tree in summer. ;)
It's kinda surprising that all this is 'new'. The thing about red (and as the main component of orange as one of its complementary colours, perhaps orange as well) can be an agitating colour - that's another thing that I learned as a young'un. Actually, I do love red as well, true red. But once it is tinged with yellow, hmm, it is not as pleasing to my eye. Orange, for me, is dischordant.
very interesting, thanks!
after a thorough investigation and weighing of the evidence the grand jury has decided not to indict the officer.. the reaction so far seems as predicted - people refuse to accept that the result represents justice despite claims that is what they wanted.. there is now violence and vandalism, including gunshots.
let's hope the police contain the troublemakers.. .
Hmm, I shall have to catch Jon Stewart online tomorrow, and get a *real* news update.
(I don't have TV, just reading the comments here about different networks. Hey, we all know that sometimes they 'make up' the news, right? Don't make me tell that old story about Boots & Coots again! Also, a bit of levity never hurts.)
lol they keep saying that this is truly satans system and all that crap.how people in the world are so judgemental and crazy.. anyone else getting sick of this?.
.
To the OP.
I agree, and so happy I don't have to listen to that drivel anymore. NOT being in contact with the JWS is such a relief!
Every disaster is a 'sign of the times' - it's like entering a Twilight Zone - they are repeating the same thing from when I was a child.
Stay strong, and try to keep your sense of humour.

I just placed a hold on that at the Library - I am 7th in line. Thanks again.
Other books I have read by exJWs are Tony DuShane's "Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk", an auto-biographical fiction, which is both hilarious and touching, and Brianna Karp's "The Girl's Guide to Homelessness", which is a nonfiction memoir and also an awesome book.
Looking forward to reading this one. :))
