I will PM you, my Brother In Law's name, his crime (of which he was convicted and went to prison), and the approximate date. That's the best I can do, but if it's of interest, use it. If not, that's okay too!

i am looking for any examples, preferably with independent news sources of any witnesses that have ever been:.
mugged.
raped.
I can relate two incidents that I know about personally. They were not exactly what you are asking for in the topic heading, but may be relevant.
After I left, so I would say around 1980, there was a sister (Minnie C. a lovely and kind woman) who was attacked and severely injured by a Newfoundland dog. Now, anyone who knows the breed, also knows that they are 'as gentle as a lamb'. My parents lived in a suburban/rural area, so this was a country property, with a long 'drive' and walkway. The dog jumped her, and she suffered a broken hip, and I think arm, and bites.
Around 1980 or so, one of the younger kids I grew up with, Joey MacD (in case you're out there, Joey! I never forgot this, and hope you have had a good life. xo), got engaged to a younger girl from a different circuit. They were on their way to a convention, and the car skidded on a curve (there had been recent road repairs, and a bit of gravel on the highway), and she was thrown away and died instantly of a head injury. It was so sad, and at the time I was already long gone, but was overwhelming to think of the loss to the families involved.
No, Jah does not protect his 'sheep'. It's such an illusion. *sigh*

a few months ago, i was in a downward spin.
i was sad and having panic attacks.
i finally went to the doctor.
wow, for someone who is intelligent and educated, you sure manage to play the town FOOL a lot, Vidiot.
Could you not see that this person need support.not in the form of ridicule? *puke*
WTF am I doing here? *poof*
in addition to the above question, why do citizens of the two above mentioned countries, or other countries, feel the necessity to tell americans how they should interpret the american constitution for localized issues?.
i fairly much have an idea what the general population in the usa feels in regards to the first question.
this could be one of the possible reasons cnn piers morgan poor ratings and eventual firing.
Perhaps it's just annoying because we are so much better informed!
LMAO!
I will say no more. Let the truth speak! :P

i found this comment on a yahoo article re same sex marriage and i happen to agree with it and thought i would share it.
of course there are others that can be added if you specify what's wrong with jehovah's witnesses but i think this list is a good overview.
would anyone else care to add anything to this list or comment?
On a humourous note, I read the topic's title, and thought "Where do I begin?"
Yup, agreed with Cofty, a good start.
Let me add my own personal favorite,,,
A god who in the Old Testament, is all about vengeance and horrific punishments for enemies, but in the New Testament is "turning the other cheek" and forgiveness ... yet, will in the end, exact a fiery judgement from those who oppose him (Revelation) ~ is that supposed to be spelled with an 's' - Revelations ? Whatever. :P

had dinner this weekend with a jw family and met a bunch of new jws.
one of them who was not very talkative at all and out of the blue asked me how i found "the truth".
i answered how my family has always been starting with my great grandfather.. then he clarified his question.. he said something about how this is a great question and people always talk about their spiritual heritage.
I hear you, and that sounds about right. *sigh* Well, if he has any questions, I'm sure he knows where to find you.
In the meantime,,,, Life! and Freedom! beckons, so enjoy,.. let us begin. :))

That is great to read. Let's take aging out of the dark ages for all genders. I (being focused on women's issues for obvious reasons) had no idea that this is a problem and easily treated.
Will definitely be sharing this info with my friends. Thanks!

To the OP.
Perhaps your friend has an emotional need that is not being met. He may have problems you are not aware of, and is seeking an anchor in life. This is often how the JWS win adult converts. They are taught to 'comfort those in need', to preach at prisons and nursing homes.
When someone may be bereft of family, or has endured great loss, or suffering due to poverty, illness (including addiction), they may be easily enticed by the love bombing and great display of brotherly love (excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth a little). They are unaware of the severe consequences of shunning for the most minor infraction (depending on who you know), etc.
Does that help you wrap your head around it any better?
My former comment was a bit wry, but truthfully, I think there may be more going on with your friend. Perhaps s/he could really use a listening ear at this time.
xo
All the best with it. There are more folks here, who can give you some really good insights, so let's keep this bumped.

I got really sick after my friend hung himself (he was gay, a cross-dresser, and a born-in JW), and was in a coma-like state for several months.
When I recovered, I realized I had discovered the Truth! The JWS had been lying to me all my life, and there was no capacity within me, to live a lie. Within a month, I had been evicted from my parents' home, had a job, my own apartment, and a new, albeit solitary, life. I was 18.
