Okay, and thanks.. I PM'd you the info re my BIL and his victims, at least what I remember. If you wish to send it to Lee, that is good with me! Hope it is useful. Since she is in Canada, she may be more versed in the Freedom of Information Act here, and able to access the files, which would be awesome.
He did a lot of damage, and if this info can help anyone, I am glad to assist in exposing the truth about Jehovah's Witnesses

When I was in the JC, they counseled me to come back to meetings and all would be forgiven.
Now, just to set the record straight - although my 'sin' was minor, I DID feel guilty, and I WAS repentant. I just didn't believe in the JWs anymore, though I still believed in their concept of 'sin'.
So, why was I disfellowshipped? I believe now, that by definition, it was 'apostacy', although back then, that word was not in their vocabulary.
However, the reason they gave me, was that I refused to 'accept their counsel' and return to the KH.
*shrugs*
Who knows WTH they mean/say ............ it's all irrelevant, once you know TTATT,
It is important, however, to discuss these issues, because some of us on the board are trying to help people escape (NOT ME, no way, I'm done!) and if I can help y'all with your loved ones, maybe that's a good reason to stick around!
xoxo

omlg, Blondie! I can so relate to Integ's experience. A bit different - had the householder sic his dog on us. Yup. We knocked on the door, and he answered. When he found out we were JWs, he told us to leave. The 'brother' asked that he keep his (snarly Akita-looking dog) inside till we got down the walkway. He then opened the door and let said dog out. I had to hold my briefcase between me and the dog ..... it scared the living daylights out of me - I was only 12 or 13 YO. :'(
Also, my friend's mother had a guy say this to her "I have a shogun in the closet, and if you people come back to my door, I'm gonna use it." *shivers*

I will PM you, my Brother In Law's name, his crime (of which he was convicted and went to prison), and the approximate date. That's the best I can do, but if it's of interest, use it. If not, that's okay too!

I can relate two incidents that I know about personally. They were not exactly what you are asking for in the topic heading, but may be relevant.
After I left, so I would say around 1980, there was a sister (Minnie C. a lovely and kind woman) who was attacked and severely injured by a Newfoundland dog. Now, anyone who knows the breed, also knows that they are 'as gentle as a lamb'. My parents lived in a suburban/rural area, so this was a country property, with a long 'drive' and walkway. The dog jumped her, and she suffered a broken hip, and I think arm, and bites.
Around 1980 or so, one of the younger kids I grew up with, Joey MacD (in case you're out there, Joey! I never forgot this, and hope you have had a good life. xo), got engaged to a younger girl from a different circuit. They were on their way to a convention, and the car skidded on a curve (there had been recent road repairs, and a bit of gravel on the highway), and she was thrown away and died instantly of a head injury. It was so sad, and at the time I was already long gone, but was overwhelming to think of the loss to the families involved.
No, Jah does not protect his 'sheep'. It's such an illusion. *sigh*

How do Americans feel about Canadians and Britons interjecting their opinions onto hot localized political topics: gun laws, abortion, ect?
by adjusted knowledge inin addition to the above question, why do citizens of the two above mentioned countries, or other countries, feel the necessity to tell americans how they should interpret the american constitution for localized issues?.
i fairly much have an idea what the general population in the usa feels in regards to the first question.
this could be one of the possible reasons cnn piers morgan poor ratings and eventual firing.

What's wrong with Christianity?
by eyefell4it2 ini found this comment on a yahoo article re same sex marriage and i happen to agree with it and thought i would share it.
of course there are others that can be added if you specify what's wrong with jehovah's witnesses but i think this list is a good overview.
would anyone else care to add anything to this list or comment?

On a humourous note, I read the topic's title, and thought "Where do I begin?"
Yup, agreed with Cofty, a good start.
Let me add my own personal favorite,,,
A god who in the Old Testament, is all about vengeance and horrific punishments for enemies, but in the New Testament is "turning the other cheek" and forgiveness ... yet, will in the end, exact a fiery judgement from those who oppose him (Revelation) ~ is that supposed to be spelled with an 's' - Revelations ? Whatever. :P

How did you find the truth? - the loaded question.
by user100 inhad dinner this weekend with a jw family and met a bunch of new jws.
one of them who was not very talkative at all and out of the blue asked me how i found "the truth".
i answered how my family has always been starting with my great grandfather.. then he clarified his question.. he said something about how this is a great question and people always talk about their spiritual heritage.
