this man's crime?
I read the story closely, and it appears that he uploaded some personal pics to a porn site, and got caught. After meeting with him, the elders told his wife of his 'crime'.
It's easy to see, how this poor man just hit 'overload'. His whole world was shattered in a mere 72 hours.
Oh, did I say how much I detest this cult and its apologetic members? If they choose to be this cruel, they are despicable. Period.

from so many posts and conversations on here, you'd think over 1/2 the posters here possess doctorates in theology, physics, biology, etc.
i'm curious aside from the books and research people have done here, what degrees they have.
to start, i just got an aa and going straight through full time to an mba.
Smiddy, Hoser, Orphan Crow, I agree.
I do think that it's good to have at least a Master's Degree nowadays if one is entering certain professions. Heck, I was yanked out of school at 14, and by 30 had a very successful career, after obtaining my GED and beginning university at age 22. Ah, what a time that was! Learning is the bestest career in the world.
Education is a wonderful thing, and I've pursued it all my life as a perpetual student. Unfortunately, politics and connections will get you much farther in most fields than will your letters and hard work. Sad but true.
OC, hmm, depending on your specialization (ie, visual, film, sculpting, etc.), you may fare better with some good marketing. Your degree is NEVER wasted, please remember that! Yes, the art world is one that will disillusion a person quickly, but never stop creating . find a way. xoxo
i managed to find a copy of "going clear" on the internet.
i won't post a link because most are loaded with pop-ups and you have to be careful about accidental downloads.
mine was no exception, but i managed to keep the computer clean.
OTWO, that sux! It's running here in Canada. And I know how frustrating that is.
Yes, the Isaac Hayes story would be its own documentary. I remember at the time, there were people passing out leaflets about the story downtown - and if I recall, the South Park people had things to say. An early warning sign, imo. Now the truth is coming out because of those who are brave enough to speak.
It was interesting that they went up against the IRS and won. We just don't know how well-connected these cult leaders are.
EDIT: Interesting - I can't play the vid from my link, but I can open a window and it works when I go directly to youtube. And, here is the 'note' on the youtube vid."FULL MOVIE: NO LINKS! THE ACTUAL HBO DOCUMENTARY ON YOUTUBE! NO REFFERAL SCAM!ENJOY, LIKE AND SHARE! SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE.

fedup, I felt the same. It's so much like the JWS, in almost every way.
I remember watching Paul Haggis speaking of this in 2010/11, and he feared for his family's safety but refused to hush up.
Noted that there was nothing about the Isaac Hayes affair.

I just watched this the other day on youtube (posted up March 30) in its entirety ,,,
Not sure how long it will stay up, so I recommend watching it now. :))
i don't know if anyone else has posted this story, but i found it very inspiring.
he's a great example for gay and straight witnesses alike.. http://www.outsports.com/2015/4/5/8344915/david-gilbert-lewis-clark-college-runner.
my wife grew up without a religious upbringing.
she was passed down a german bible given to her grandfather in 1935 which had a hand written inscription by two jewish colleagues of her grandfather at the time.
inside was a quote either written by her relatives or anonymous, not sure which but i really had to share it as it really sums it up for me - enjoy!.
It sounds like someone was in tune with the transcendentalist school of thought, and especially Whitman.
as someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!
) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.
i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.
Pistoff, what a passionate, and poignant, reply! And I quote: "We are here to tell the truth". Thank you! xx
And I am thinking of a particular member, whose wife died for lack of a kidney transplant, 6 months before they had 'new light'. Thinking of you, G. xx
[bold mine]
My reason is that they lie, lie, lie, about everything from their credentials to what they do with our money.
I expect to be lied to in business, but not from a 'religion'.
And they split up families.
They change doctrine constantly, and expect you to keep up, to swear loyalty to the old ideas, and when they change, to discard them and swear loyalty to the new.
And if you pay attention, you might let your minor child bleed to death, or watch your spouse slowly die in front of you, when they refuse blood to 'stay loyal to Jehovah'.
There; how is that for reasons to 'attack'?We are here to tell the truth about our experience being a JW, that is our experience.
i haven't had pizza in absolute ages!!!
today our boss bought in 20 various pizzas to say "well done" for the month of march.
i've eaten like 5 slices already.
I was a pizza cook at one time, and one I made at home was this: shredded chicken with sliced artichoke hearts and crumbled feta, with a sprinkling of sliced black olives. I like a light tomato sauce (traditional Italian spice) and some parmesan cheese for a base, but you decide.
Make sure you coat the pan with EVOO, so that the crust is nice and crispy, and cook at a high temp. 425 - 450F. ENJOY!
Mmm, Za! And yes, the traditional Italian, omg ............ so good and miss that.
I can no longer enjoy Za because of certain digestive problems, but yes, people, make your own! ENJOY! ;d
Thanks. sweetie, for loving the Za. Hey, we should make up some kinda goddess (like the flying spaghetti monster) for Pizza .. hmmm, that's a thought!
Oh, and a thin crust, oh yes, is best. Traditional, brushed with the best of EVOO and spiced, or world-cultural, with a meal on top ... either way, it's a nutritious and healthy food if prepared in the proper manner.
And Day-YUM good! * huge grin *
