this is not meant to be a controversial discussion, but just mentioning what has happened to my daughter.. i personally started my fade early this year 2015, it has resulted in my losing all my so called jw friends and the brake-up of my marriage.
when i split up with my wife, she asked our daughter who she would like to live with, my daughter decided to live with me, and also abandoned the cult.. recently my daughter told me that she is very disappointed with the congregation of jehovah's witnesses because she thought she had friends there, but now she has realized that it was all conditional, not a single one of them has even remotely tried to keep contact with my daughter, she is 15, not baptized and never a publisher.. now yesterday she met up with a jehovah's witness friend who is in another congregation.
this friend is also 15, baptized since she was 14, a very dominant elder father, and has virtually no association outside jw circles, and also internet access is banned at home.
What Nic said ^^^
And don't feel ashamed - you got out, and got your daughter out before she got hitched and kids, etc. and stuck "in" herself.

EDIT: She is 14, and I just had a thought. "Mean girls" are for real, and she should be prepared for high school. Watch "Clueless" together, which is a great adaptation of Jane Austen's "Emma", and maybe a conversation about the vagaries of high school. Just a thought.
was sipping my coffee, browsing here and there, and then focussed on reading here regarding arc, picked up some world news on same subject - and wondered if jw org would publish any information on their news site.. then, i flicked to jw talk - anything in their public news forum?
a newish headline 'australia and jehovah's witnesses' or something like that - i entered link - web page error, not found.
nope.
every answer given is in favor of the Submissions of the Society laywers, and I think that members now, are scared to receive warning points, and to get kicked out by the moderators.
We must keep reporting the facts here, so that JWS who want to know the reality of what is happening will be able to read transcripts, etc.
and you can't experct that they will accept other opinions with open arms...on their forum.
That is correct. Any lies they choose to tell in order to cover up the facts, will be considered Theocratic Warfare (TM).

I'd love to see a JW parody of "Every Sperm is Sacred" ....... any lyricists on board? :D
the above is a quote from a jw female relative.
this was in response to a discussion about the suffragette movement ( and the movie about it that's currently in cinemas).
she seemed to think that it would be so much better if women were just daughters/ wives/ mothers and didn't go out to work and have career's?
TD
Exactly. But that was THEN, and this is NOW. The patriarchy evolved naturally, but we have had the industrial revolution, 2 world wars, and major technological advances that have freed women to pursue interests other than raising children and washing clothes (yes, the washing machine is one of the most important inventions in terms of how it affected western culture).
: )
it was just a matter of time.. the main issue is seniority, and job security.
Well, that figures. Rudolph's nose should be brown, the way he's always sucking up to Santa. How do you think he got that lead position with the sleigh, what with his drinking and carrying on? He'll be bending over for management.
I suppose, though, that the helpers deserve a slice of the pie. After all, why should Santa and the GB get all the glory?

Sorry, I had to look up Maureen Dowd. I had never heard of her, and she doesn't appear to be particularly involved in feminism. I guess I see feminist leaders such as Bella Abzug, Naomi Wolf, Gloria Steinem, and those who lead the movement.
If you don't accept that men (for the most part) have made the rules and women have been subjugated as a result (for natural reasons, societies developed that way, of course, as women were the child-bearers), then I guess there is no point to any further discussion.
I'm not really up to a strong debate. You are probably right. I respect your opinions, and will leave it at that.
take care, and thanks.

TD, thanks for your reply and interest in my thoughts on the matter. Your statement did have a ring of truth, but I think you made a broad stroke.
Radical feminism opposes the patriarchy, not men. That is *the* mainstay of the movement. What does "the patriarchy" mean? It is a system that is seen as dividing rights, privileges and power primarily by gender, and as a result oppressing women and privileging men.
(Of course at this point, some people will interrupt "What about men who are poor? They are not privileged." In a patriarchal system, these men, though they are perceived as more or less powerless, most likely have full dominance over their wives and daughters.)
As the word 'radical' implies, these women (and men, believe it or not - yes, men can oppose the patriarchy as well - just ask Gloria Steinem) tend to be more militant, and 'in your face' (kinda like a successful businessMAN hehehe).
"Some men are emasculated by equality." So, is it your position that zero men are emasculated by equality? That seems hardly likely.
Perhaps it would be more correct to say "Some men feel emasculated by equality".
It's true that the patriarchy has resisted goals of the movement, such as pay equity and maternity leave for BOTH parents. Women still have great difficulty in breaking through the "Glass ceiling", and face horrendous treatment by the "old boys' club' when they become firefighters, cops and work in many other male-dominated fields.
We usually attack things we fear - why such [hatred] fear of women in the workplace?
I think it would be true to say, "some feminists claim that men feel emasculated by equality". And of course, we always have 'the fringe'; that is to say: those who veer off from the mainstream, and make a lot of NOISE about their ways of thinking, and therefore receive a lot of attention.
To wrap up, I think your statement would be more accurate if it did not claim to be a 'mainstay of radical feminism'.
