Thier new Bible translations funny Scripture and how stupid they are.

if you go to their bible at genesis 18: starting at verse 3 you will read that abraham sees jehovah yep sees him, with a couple of other men (angel's) then talks to him about getting water to wash his feet.

then he runs to sarah and talks to her about preparing food for jehovah.

so let me get this strait abraham sees jehovah face to face, jehovah has feet and apparently likes to eat human food too.

crazyguy - I live on campus, and end-of-term yard sales and freebies are legend in this neighbourhood.

One of my good 'finds' last summer - was a bible. The Complete Bible: An American Translation, Smith & Goodspeed.

It's leather-bound and the paper is beautiful. I saw it in the box and thought 'hmm, I don't have any Bible at home, in case I want to look something up (yes, it's online, but I love books and enjoy the tactile satisfaction that a good book provides). It was free, so "Yoink". It includes "The Apocrypha". I've leafed through it, has "Book of Maccabees" and others.

It seems to be an interesting translation.

I had a bizarre dream the other night

What an excellent dream. Some dreams are about the mind processing. Our brains are active during REM sleep, 'dream time'. And your thoughts upon waking up - so true, what?

Some people remember a lot of dreams, some not. OMG, you're normal. *grins*

ok so a car pulls up to the house and 3 eldurrs from my dads congo come up.

they come in and have thee nerve to ask me to step out so they can speak to pops!!!!

this is the good part.....pops says...and i quote " whatever needs to be said..can be said in front of my son".

"this letter came through the congregation inbox and so hasn't got theusual identifying information.

the name of the file is probably thebest way to identify it.

Sugar, understood, and thanks for the reply. I thought you may be new to the issue, and wanted to clarify the possible importance of this particular document.

In the broader sense, there may be a lot of seemingly unimportant documents, and/or debate about the history of the JWS. These things have meaning because it is 'our' history, and the WTBTS has rewritten the facts. There is a group of people that works with Atlantis! to ensure that these documents are not lost forever. Younger people who are finding their way out of the cult often have no knowledge of how the religion started, and what happened in the past.

You are so right about the pompous self-importance of the JW organization. Glad to have you here - it's always good to see people who have never been JWS. One step in getting rid of the cult, is public awareness. Many people think they are harmless. Take care.

my first painting after my cataract oeration

have only just been able to paint again after a cataract operation in september.

i had complications which meant my short sight has been compromised but following some surgery the fluid buildup seems to have cleared and i have started painting again.

this is a larger rendition of an earlier piece, such a relief to be ble to see the paper again..

That's quite amazing. And painstaking. It's not a technique I knew of (ie, the coloured inks/washes). Like Esse quam says, makes the cut here. : ))

Where are the EXJW Feminist Philosophers?

i am working, more in the planning stages, where i am going to offer a commentary on the caleb and sophia cartoons that the org puts out.

i noticed a heavily patriarchal bent to the narrative that these cartoons offer.

i would really enjoy working with someone who has an academic background in feminist philosophy, or at least someone knowledgeable.

The last time I introduced feminist thought on a thread, one person said "I feel the word patriarchy coming on." You are a man, though (possible an elder or exelder?) , so I am sure the misogynists will not attack you for using the word "partriarchal".

Feminist talk is not welcomed here. If it's mentioned, there are one or two prolific members that I guess, feel the need to be rude and demeaning (showing their ignorance). It's great that you are going to undertake this project - it is sorely needed. I'm sure there are other feminist thinkers reading the topic, and hope one of them will be able to work with you.
