What do you think is the source of your consciousness? Can it be copied or transferred?
by EndofMysteries inthis seems to be a question that even scientifically is still in the air.
right now your consciousness, is it the physical part of the brain?
the electrical signals in the brain?

I've never seen that book. Maybe I could ask "Bible Teach, what is that?" And whip out my own weird translation* of that tome from my knapsack. Could always pretend to be taking religious studies. hmm, I have yet to find an angle that I'm comfortable with (being too much of a smartypants, I confess). But this might work.
Thanks, bg
* picked up a rare and strange translation last summer, freebie
.
EDIT: If I wheel up in my chair, will I be able to guilt them into listening? will I be considered an 'easier mark'?

The Worm Song
~ The Pogues (traditional)
The worms crawl in and the worms crawl out.
The ones that crawl in are lean and thin,
The ones that crawl out are fat and stout.
Your eyes fall in and your teeth fall out
Your brains come tumbling down your snout
Be merry, my friends, be merry

The life that died was dead.
If you died, but your brain was preserved and many years later implanted or reactivated, would it be you? What if information on the brain was moved to another, would you wake up or would it be a new life thinking it was you?** SPOILER ALERT **
i've already watched this particular episode of The Outer Limits. The brain transfer doesn't work out well.
(and yes, this was the premise of an episode in the revival series)

What is your "INTUITION" about THE SECRET "law of attraction"?
by Terry inever hear somebody say, "trust your gut..."?.
or, like obe wan kenobe: "trust your feelings...."?.
have you ever followed that "little voice" that whispers to you that you should or should not do something?.

If you live in the wild, and ignore your intuition, you're a dead man.
This thread is about your personal view of intuition and how it relates to that new age garbage book, The Secret. Don't seek to redefine the universal meaning of intuition. It's too grandiose. And yes, of course 'women's intuition' is a myth. Duh.

Does the past get fuzzy with age? I remember elders who ruled with an iron fist. One of my earliest memories is qualkng with fear at every meeting, knowing that any signs of fidgeting would be swiftly dealt with, and in my case, would include a visit with the wooden spoon.
To quote our Presiding Overseer "...and when you take your children to the bathroom, that's when we really want to hear them." (circa 1962/63) Some of these people were monsters, including members of my own family. Let's not live in denial. And they weren't 'new converts' that came into the Lie 'lately'.
How many threads can you find, devoted to people telling their stories of abuse, viciously promoted by the 'old guard' of the R&F, who ate up Knorr's and Franz's crazy rantings like candy? How quickly we forget, when waxing nostalgic about the monsters at the King-dumb Hell.
What is up with that? The WTS does not value children. If you are one of the 1975 generation, or any other born-in after that, and are being shunned by your immediate family, you must realize that this is a monstrous act of violence being perpetrated on you. The WTBTS is the master of the plan, but it takes individuals to execute that plan.
If we were talking about Nazis, what would you be saying? Would you blame the individuals, or say 'they were just following orders'?
Good grief. -

Tobacco and alcohol must be purchased at the duty-free shop, and will be given to you on the plane. It is illegal to buy your own, and transport it across the border. You are allowed "X" ounces of spirits, and "X" number of cigars or cigarettes, and must make a Customs Declaration.
Congratulations on your new-found freedom to travel. : P -

The Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body are Elitists (Here is why)
by Terry inan "elite" group is one which has special privileges not granted to others.. and obscurantist elite, is a group which hides information by virtue of its own claim to be special and a sole source in dispensing necessary truths.. to wit:.
the gb's elitism shines through in articles such as this:.
“thus the bible is an organizational book and belongs to the christian congregation as an organization, not to individuals , regardless of how sincerely they may believe that they can interpret the bible .

All religions try to get their members to adhere to their purpose and goal. I run a couple of small companies. I have a business vision. Is it wrong to ask my employees to adhere to my vision and not deviate too far from it?
What about a franchise? A franchisor has to develop rules and regulations down to the finest detail. A franchisee is not allowed to deviate one iota from the written plan. Imagine if McDonalds franchises went astray. What would happen? The brand would be damaged. Similar, any organized religion must have certain stipulations or the brand, or religion, will be damaged or altered. Consistency must be maintained, or as we know it, unity. It's good to see you recognize that the WTBTS is run on a business model (and a very successful one at that), and is far from being a 'faith-based organization'. Actually, it is more akin to the old American plantation system, complete with slaves, overseers, and a ruling class who rarely get their hands dirty.
The rich and famous are excused their transgressions by virtue of their donations cheques and the good publicity they bring to the table.
Now that the WTBTS is switching blatantly, from being a publishing company to in-your-face real estate speculation, it's easier to understand why the corporation is so successful. And they pay no taxes.
Talk about 'made in the shade'. Yowza!

That sounds very tasty. And ha, I can see how 1 litre would have that effect, combined with the sugar high. I am remember a line from an old song "It was a cool, cool evening in Chile, when things got hot." jajaja!
