i knew i had a couple of firearms around the house, and one in the car.
however, i didn't realize i had seven, yes, seven of them, when i proceeded to count them.
the reason for that is that i haven't gone to the shooting range in years.
You're welcome; as I said, timing! Hope that was helpful.
The best move, if you are attacked and in close quarters, is to strike the throat. Groin strikes are painful, but not debilitating. If you hit the throat (carry house keys in your hand if in a shady area), you will disable your attacker, with a risk of death, but - preventing the possibility of your own. xx
thought it might be an interesting exercise to read the variety of questions people might ask.
To the g-d of the Bible, the Xtian g-d (there are many g-ds):
Why do you foster so much hatred in your believers, whilst proclaiming yourself the 'g-d of love'?

Wonderment - haha, I just got up, couldn't sleep, and saw your post. Timing is everything.
I used to work on a rape crisis line. This is one of the things I learned, not sure where, but shared from a fellow worker or survivor. Oh yes! Have you ever accidentally sprayed it in your eyes? I have, and yes, if you give a metered spray into a potential rapist's eyes, the pain will be instant, and it's (I think) even worse than pepper spray, in that it may cause blindness - don't quote me on that.
It's legal, and hey, I have no qualms about harming a potential rapist.

WC - getting 'downvoted' is a good sign, it means you have an opinion. Don't let it get to you.
We can own handguns in Canada, if we go through the training, background checks, and have the $$. My father owns a handgun (as well as at least 6 long guns), and my cousin had a Saturday Night Special in the pawn shop walk-in safe (which I had to learn to use, just in case), along with a sawed off shotgun. Yup, and I learned to shoot with my grandmother's .410.
Down East, we don't have a lot of folk who own handguns, to tell the truth, but hunting deer, rabbit and sea ducks is part of our culture (we are Canada's Appalachia, and yes, mama grew up on the South Mountain). City folk, not so much.
There is no length restriction in Canada for carrying knives. Any switchblade or butterfly knife, or button on the handle knife, is illegal for citizens to own. You may own a knife that is spring-opened, by flicking it with your hand. Pepper spray is illegal - but a small can of aerosol hairspray works just as well, and is considerably cheaper. : )
.
PS. One reason I don't care for the free sales of guns in the USA, is the "Blue Steel Highway", I-95. That's how most of the illegal guns enter Canada, via gun shows in the Carolinas, Florida, shipped nawth on the interstate. Sorry, but that's true; there is even a documentary about it. xx
protesters shut down a trump rally.
massive numbers of people are out in chicago and have shut his event down.
there were scuffles inside the event.. despite his lame attempt to pretend the violence he instigates is nothing to do with him it's clear that it is as the cnn quotes during the last event showed only too well.. this doesn't happen at anyone else's events - candidates have even given up the stage to protesters, not called for them to be beaten and punched.. trump is an ugly person and this is just a small taste of what a future under his rule would be like.. shame on the gop for not kicking his ass out.
While having coffee with a friend (30-something) this evening, I realized that a lot of people weren't around for Trump's pre-Apprentice days. That is to say, yes, I am old. So my astute friend (writer, former magazine editor, well-read) learns about 20th C. Donald Trump. Just the facts, ma'am.
I first remember The Donald (which is what he wished to be called) from the 1980s. His money, good looks and flamboyance, along with his beautiful and smart wife, Ivana, garnered a lot of attention.
When he and Ivana divorced and he married his very-public mistress, Marla Maples, the TV tabloids (which were the new big deal - infotainment was HOT) covered it all. "The Donald" was famous, and controversial. Ivana was not the shamed housewife. Oh no, she was treated as the equal she was - and Trump gave her that credit. At least, like many politicians *cough, cough*Kennedy*cough*Clinton*cough, cough*, he gave lip service to his wife. And her share of the fortune she helped him build.
Truth be told, he traded in for a newer model. Marla was his middle age crisis. *shrugs*
His story continues in true dramatic fashion, as he loses the empire he built from his inherited $Millions. Undaunted, Trump gets his deals on, and makes his way back to the 'top'. His keen business sense leads him to capitalize on the 21st Century reality TV trend, and he has a smash hit show with The Apprentice. You're fired! Yes, the first few seasons were entertaining - good television. Once again, Trump's name is on everyone's lips.
Oh, somewhere along the way, he traded in again, with a 3rd young wife (I've never seen her name in print, and won't attempt to spell it), 'M'. So, my conclusions are: he likes his women young, loves the spotlight, and knows how to make money.
His public and vicious verbal brawls with celebs like Rosie O'Donnell, evidence the amount of 'class' he has, as does his ability to discard his wife every 10 or 15 years, and buy himself a new one.
That's *always* been my opinion of The Donald. Since the 1980s, he's played the press, and in an undignified fashion. He's ruthless. You may think that is an admirable quality in someone who purports to be a 'world leader', and I may, in fact, agree. But where is the diplomacy? Where is the statesmanship?
An excerpt from an article in The Washington Post, March 11, 2016:
Trump supporter charged after sucker-punching protester at North Carolina rally
Trump himself has not been quick to criticize the violence. After a fight erupted between protesters and police last year in Birmingham, Trump said: “‘Maybe he should have been roughed up.”
Of a protester in Nevada last month, Trump said: “I’d like to punch him in the face.”
In Kentucky, he said: “Get him out. Try not to hurt him. If you do I’ll defend you in court. … Are Trump rallies the most fun? We’re having a good time.”
According to CBS New York, he referred to an incident at a New Hampshire rally where a protester started “swinging and punching.” Trump said some people in the audience “took him out.”
“It was really amazing to watch,” he said.
VI, the video you posted is shocking - feels like the 60s. Especially after reading the Post article.
"Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, We're finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming, Four dead in Ohio."
May you live in interesting times, is the curse that comes to mind. : (
there was/is a sister in my old hall who was a pharmaceutical sales rep and she was a huge proponent of anything in the drug industry.
when someone had a headache, she was the first to say "take an asprin.
" now my husband and i are what you might call old hippies.
i'm will be the first to admit i'm not a smart guy.
dropped out of high school to help my parents make a living.
who needs an education anyway when the end is so close.
Whats so frustrating is realizing how much we're all manipulated.
The fact that you can see this, shows that you ARE smart. "Educated" and "Smart" are not synonyms. Many smart people never went to school.
Give yourself more credit. No matter who we are, someone will put us down - don't do it to yourself, Crazyguy. You may lack a formal education, but that does NOT mean you are dumb! xx

I remember seeing that movie when it came out - it's a really good one. I was out of the cult by then, and didn't know the JWS had a problem with it. Now that I think about it, I did note it was very anti-JW, in that it showed the prison that we as JW kids, lived in. OTOH, how many 'worldly' people noticed?
How silly is that? In a real world sense, very silly! But oh ... my .... GAWD! The boy rebels and wants to go trick-or-treating? And have birthdays? He is a pawn of Satan, and any JW watching this movie will be infected by Satan's Hallowe'en spawn! LMAO
Nice catch, Faye.
