maybe, it's because the WT related topics are boring as hell?

JW Net and Politics
by snare&racket inthis site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.
i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.
it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.

The difference between the ministry examples and reality
by purrpurr init seems to me that there is a world of difference between the textbook 'skits, examples on the platform' ministry and the reality of the door to door work in real life.
surely for a bible study coming into the jw religion and having seen all these perfect examples, to be faced with the bitter truth when they do start knocking on the doors must be really jarring?.
surely they will either conclude that they are rubbish at the ministry or that they have been lied to?.

All those 'example' presentations have always been quite a crap.
Just in good olden days, when they were just text and no video - there was a room left for interpretation, saying 'Ah, ok, it's just a backbone for a presentation', blah-blah...
Now, it's 100% obvious those Bethelites who take part in producing the 'shadow examples' have no clue about the real field ministry.

Should Difference of Opinion Be Squelched On Sites Such As FB or Twitter?
by minimus ini think that for the most part, dissenting views should be allowed to exist because of free speech principles.
one person may strongly feel that something is true while someone else may present “facts” that support the opposing view.
when that is the case, healthy discussion is mostly productive.

Add to that Spotify removing the artists from their service which they decided to be 'non-BLM compliant'.
Wikipedia ruled by biased jerks pushing the Kremlin/leftist propaganda, banning the opponents in a blink of an eye.
Etc, etc.

Drearyweather - basically, you do confirm that the rapid growth of the congregations amount in India doesn't reflect the correspondent growth of publishers, don't you?

I've checked the KHs in India on the google maps. Firstly, it's hard to find any street views on the maps, so it's hard to evaluate what the KHs there actually look like.
But from my humble search, and footage I was able to find, it seems they're not the KHs in the common sense. It's more of some various real estate having little to do with standard Starbucks look in the West.
They're sometimes as close as 1 km from each other. It all looks more like a long-term real estate investment to the rapidly developing country (rather than a sign of extraordinary growth).

The problem with Capitalism!---Billionaires
by pistolpete inas imperfect and flawed capitalism is, it has worked better than other forms of economic and political systems-so far.
it’s very simple in “theory.” capitalism is an economic and-or, political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.
in other words, keep government out of it as much as possible.

The topic is very interesting to me. I've been thinking about similar things for quite a while.
My idea so far is that we as humanity should invent something different to address the problems raised. I'd like to see the discussion to move away from Capitalism vs Socialism/Communism holy wars (which sounds so 19-20th centurish :) ).
There are already some efforts to build the picture of our future - like by the weforum.org or the like. But they also have their flaws - so there's much work in this field, I believe.

How much do Elders actually get along with each other?
by Davros ini was reading in the shepherding book that elders should “ cultivate and maintain friendships with one another.”, and thought to myself “bulls$it!” i remember that most of the elders in my old congregation were nothing but nasty asses.
i know it may vary from congregation to congregation, but do elders generally get along with each other behind closed doors in elders meetings?
or, are they often in conflict with each other?

I can add quite a recent story from my former congo.
My friend who is an elder now, complained me about his fellow-elder and his wife who are known to be bullies, slanderers and outright liars. When this whole conflict story had got to the CO's attention, he said, in effect 'Shut up, all of you - unless you both want to be removed!'
Now, they both quietly hate each other...
P. S.: It's so cute :)

"extremism" -- What *specifically* did Russia ban Jehovah's Witnesses for?
by Pallbearer inrussia's reason for banning jehovah's witnesses is said to be due to extremism.
but what exactly does that mean, or refer to?
specifically, what practice (or practices) of jehovah's witnesses does russia consider to be extreme?

The retiring of our dear Atlantis and Petra will definitely make the Borg super happy.
Still, I'm very grateful to them and their team/sources for all the work they've been doing for years!
I would love to see them back to work, of course :) - but fully respect any decision they make.
