How many JWs really believe the end will come "soon"?
by BU2B inthis topic has been on my mind lately.
i have been looking around at jws and wondering how many truly believe the end is as near as they are told.
from my personal experience, i know that my parents fully believe the end is imminent and may come any time now.

I don't know that many JWs but if you go back a couple of decades then I think they thought the end was just around the corner. Nowadays they talk about plans for many years into the future so I assume they've pretty much given up on Armageddon arriving soon. -

When did you realize evolution was true?
by Coded Logic in) which person/source first made you reconsider your position on creationism?.
) how long a period of time did it take to fully convince you?.
) what books and videos did you read and watch?.

As a never-in I never doubted it, although I have subsequently read a couple of Dawkin's books and watched Potholer54's YouTube videos in order to understand it better. In the UK evolution is not a particularly contentious topic - apart from a couple of minor cults pretty much everyone accepts it as far as I can tell (admittedly in most cases without thinking very much about it). -

Really? Printing literature on crappy home printers with low ink levels and putting a paper clip in the corner? That'll look impressive.
Mind you - as no one reads the distributed literature anyway I guess there is some logic to it from a cost saving point of view.

'A handful of coins - that's OK, if you want to take a chance on judgement day.
But a large denomination note - that always gets Jehovah's vote.'

Exciting new Brother seems ideally qualified for a JW
by jimtheman699 inso, jw's are being investigated for grilling innocent child abuse victims in their own courts, they punish the innocent and protect the guilty, they hide child abusers in their own ranks and protect pedophile elders.
next stop london bethel for this new brother then - ideally qualified.
the yorkshire ripper has enjoyed a specially-arranged baptism service in broadmoor after becoming a jehovah's witness.. peter sutcliffe, 68, who was jailed for murdering 13 women, was recently baptised in a pool in a private room at the high security hospital.

So if Armageddon comes tomorrow then I am bird food but the Yorkshire Ripper will live forever in an earthly paradise? Wow - I'll add that one to the list I'm compiling to bring up with my in relatives. -

Christian missionary whinges about the prosperity of Kenya
by cofty injessica tidwell arrived in nairobi ready to heroically preach the gospel to destitute, half-naked peasants, living in mud huts and covered in "bug bites".. when she discovered that nairobi was in fact a prosperous, modern city with people in expensive clothes buying food and electronic goods in shopping malls, she was dejected and said so in her missionary blog.. the comments section below her blog entry is well worth a read.... here is bob marley's take on self-centred western christian missionaries.. "we're going to chase those crazy baldheads out of town".

Thanks Cofty - absolutely priceless.
I loved the fact that not being able to speak English ranked alongside dirt and bug-bites. Perhaps she should go to China?

I'm probably being hyper-sensitive, but the phrase 'the little kids like him' is making alarm bells ring for me. -

Judging by the number of happy cleaners, the headquarter buildings must be sparkling.
Those pigs didn't seem to be getting into the vibe though.
