The Compassionate JW
by PopeOfEruke inthe united way realized that it had never received a donation from the city's most successful businessman who is a jehovahs witness.
so a united way volunteer paid the jw businessman a visit in his lavish office.. the volunteer opened the meeting by saying, "our research shows that even though your annual income is over two million dollars, you don't give a penny to charity.
wouldn't you like to give something back to your community through the united way?".

Dont kick yourself, it happens to the best of us. I always prepare myself for what I might say, then it seems like when the real thing is staring you right in the eyes, you go blank. I was getting prepared for something I might say to witnesses that happened to be working my street a couple of weeks ago, but they never did come to my house. I am not even sure I could have followed through, I'm too mushy with people. But still, you at least did make an impression on her...

I will never have the mother/ daughter relationship that every person should experience
I think this very thought too!
But wow, I am so happy for you that you had this wonderful experience with your mother. How incredible for you, and that you felt peace, good for you.

Has Prince Always Known of Jehovah's Witnesses
by prophecor inanyone who's a fan of prince will recognize that through out much of his music, there has been a spiritual connect in his lyrics, with several references to god.
there are some who have had prior knowledge of the truth but didn't let on until later in their life.
larry grahm of "grahm central station" fame was somewhat illusive as to his connection to the truth at the start of his musical carrer.

Boy its hard for teenaged JW's
by skyman ini had to come home early from work today because a 17 year old girl came over to me and was all upset she asked if she could come up and visit with my wife and i. she said the brothers are always picking on her and she can not do anything right.
i asked, what have you done she said nothing every time it is some one making things up and she is tired of even trying any longer.
teenagers come from over all the area they they know they can come and talk to us and we will not judge them.

I remember how hard it was too. Would have been wonderful to have a couple like you and your wife to run to. Good for you, I am glad you are able to be there for these poor young kids. They are just up against so much. Keep up the good work!

Dubs are sick people
by gringojj ini notice that when my wife misses meetings( about 60 percent of the time she does) she always tells her study person she wasnt feeling well.
her sister uses that excuse all the time too.
even her mom who has been in it 30 yrs often is too ill to go to the meetings.

Google adv "Meet single JW just like you"
by mad max ini can't understand why they have put this ad up on this site, as it is only people who are not jw who look at this site (and others) so why advertise "meet single jw just like you on this site".
i thought maybe it was for single ex jw, so went into that site, and low and behold it was for jw only.
they were saying something like this "... we would like to say thank you so much brothers for this site as i have meet my wife/husband etc ....and thank you so much jehovah..".

Never rush a life-long serious commitment
To quote BROTHER Dennis, who obviously got lost here on his way over to the societies real website, I think jwmedia.org, bookmark it dude, you're lost,
anyhow, I would apply this advice to your babptism dilemma. Dont rush into a life long serious committment, but I would add, that has legal and emotional implications that are not explained to up front before you dunk your life away.
yes, never rush a life long serious committment like baptism, big big mistake. Not even for a guy you love.

Where's the payoff?
by AllAlongTheWatchtower inexcuse me if i'm being cynical, but i've had my own experiences with [b]organized religion, though it was non-jw.
the group i was affiliated with demanded that full fledged members tithe (10% off the top of your income; pre-taxes), and a donation basket was also circulated at nearly every gathering in addition to tithing.
even kids were encouraged to participate; they would give them little envelopes to put loose change into and put in the basket.

They dont ask for any percentage of your income, nor do they pass around collection plates. But they have contribution boxes at the back of the hall, and they remind the members often, what their financial status is, and how their contributions can help.
