I've always been able to spot Americans around the Globe because for some reason they often order Budwieser Beer...Even when I spent a couple weeks in Mexico and hung out with several Americans they drank Buds.....Probably just my experience and not a universal thing..

i have worked with and been friends with many from europe, asia, south america, africa and the middle east for the last 25 years.
of all these people only the europeans have ever suggested that they can pick an american out of a crowd ... they seem to know us no matter how much we may share the same ethnic background.. i have asked europeans and others may times just how it is they can spot an american, even when we have not spoken.

Good News and Bad News
by cruzanheart inhere's the good news: after six years of working at night so we didn't have to leave the children with people we didn't know (or, worse still, witnesses), big tex got a day job!!!!!
his law firm decided that they didn't want to lose him -- they knew he was interviewing for day jobs -- so found him a spot in the daytime.
we signed the kids up for the school's after-school program, which is excellent, and it is so incredibly wonderful to have him home at night!

JW marriages: happy/unhappy
by starfish422 ini've been wondering how many jws have gotten married too quickly, without knowing their prospective "mate" well enough, and have ended up really unhappy.
it always seemed to me that a couple would be dating for, like, 6 or 9 months and get engaged, have a 9 month engagement and be married; often because they bought the "no sex before marriage" garbage.
i'm sure that there *are* happy jw marriages out there; and certainly being unhappily married isn't the sole property of jws.

Its funny how your taught to do more, do more, do more for the org and your marriage will survive....I have had more dub friends split then non-dub and everyone always says its because they did not rely on Jehovah.
It's been a rollercoaster ride in my home since I expressed my doubts....right now I don't know what the final outcome will be...
I do believe many dubs get married before they're ready or simply to get free of JW rules and regs put on them by thier parents....
So right now I'd have to say it's an unhappy marriage. Things can change quickly though when the blinders come off..if they come off.

A Strange Coincidence...the sky is falling!
by eisenstein insomething strange happened to me yesterday on the subway coming home from work.
an awake article, the one about "the internet and pornography, who does it effect" fell right at my feet.
i looked around to see who dropped/threw it down but didn't see anyone.. my first jw-paranoia thought was that i was followed by a jw spy and they dropped it so i could see it.
