today, i was on the scene of the local congregation of jw's where my ex-wife and her husband attend.
physical, emotional and mental abuse has been purpetrated upon my kids for eight years now.
they have been victims of alcoholism, verbal bashings and they have been made to watch their stepfather beat the hell out of their mother and then be halled off to jail without saying a word to anyone for fear fo reprisal from him and their mother.

just when we think we have reached some level of putting it all behind us, something new pops up to bite us hard.

The thought that your words or actions could do more harm than good seem IMPOSSIBLE to me.
Your story inspired me and recently I was contacted by a longtime JW friend who is questioning things and he too read and was inspired by your story.
Your dedication and pursuit of helping others who have been harmed by the WTBTS with both the gift of your valuable time and experience is appreciated by many!
Your reasoning through the many posts you've made have shown the WTBTS and they're man made policies visibly destroy the very thing they propose to upbuild....genuine unconditional love.
Jim...if these friends are happy serving an Org which teaches falsehoods, protects pedophiles, and sits in Gods position casting judgement on man, woman and child then so be it...let them return...after 20 years of thinking maybe they just want someone else to think for them now.
I would never connect God to any decision either for people becoming a JW or returning to the Org....I'm sure he would be quite embarrassed to be connected with them under any circumstances.
I know we haven't spoken in a long time but talking with you during my trials by fire with the elders helped keep me focused, that combined with your calm demeanor gave me real and needed encouragement.

because of another thread i got curious about whether many people have a favourite word.
i've never really gotten over my first love, which was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (seems like there ought to be a comma in there somewhere).
but that's not really a word.

recently, during my trip back to england, i decided to attend a spiritualist church with a friend of mine.
he had originally piqued my curiosity by telling me that in one of their weekly services, they have a clairvoyant (medium) "connect" and give messages to people in the church.. i thought this would be a nice experience, and so my wife and i went.
i will hold back on the description of what happened, as that is a whole other thread (no, things did not fly around the room), but i will say that at the end, i felt very comforted and happy because of the very specific message i received.

i understand we all need guidance and some people need hope, even if it is not real.
but personally, i believe religion has caused so many hideous crimes against humanity that it is something we would all be better off without.. it really is too bad that religion has capitalized on humankind's need for a divine being to only abuse and control its fellow humans.. so, what do you think?
would we be better of without religion?.

they are waiting on the results of the biopsy before determining treatment..... he didnt want me to say anything at first- as he feels you all have your own problems & he didnt want to upset anyone-because he says "they are dear friends".
