Homecoming

a friend of mine didnt come home after school then went to his high schools local homecoming , he didnt tell his parents or anyone else except for his none jw friends .

his sister also snuck him out to go to a concert twice .

what should i do with him as a friend ?

According to counsel in Leviticus you should stone him outside the city gates...if you don't live in a city it really throws a wrench into things though...maybe you could buy a lamb or young bull...a firstling of course not lame or sumpin and offer it up as a sin attonement on his behalf...the stoning does sound more sporting but do it quickly incase he makes a run for a city of refuge or something cowardly like that.

Why would you ask about turning in your friend unless he was in physical danger or something..is he underage? Was he doing crack or crystal meth?...or was he just having fun at a dance?

lately something has bothered me as regards to many on jwd who wonder what to do, once they have found the organisation to be a destructive, mind controling sect.

aside from these ones deciding how to exit without causing a judicial meeting nor a stir among the publishers, it whether or not they want to risk their marriage and or family ties.. many on this site have related how their marriage fell to pieces because the dub mate could not accept their loved one "leaving jehovah", and they could never meet in the middle to save the marriage.

others who leave, push their dub mate away by their constant verbal expressions against the organisation...because they think they should....hence, the marriage falls apart.. here's the hard part i don't know the answer to.

I'll just toss a wine bottle in the air...she goes for it everytime...some lame excuse about not wasting any of Jehovahs bountiful provisions.

then she always quotes some scripture about alittle wine being good for the stomach * burp *

i accidentally posted this improplerly so i'll try again.... i'm a "first-timer"- so please be gentle ( or at least use lube).

can we try and look at the bible's message without any preconcieved notions that we've been fed?

read it as if we've been lost on a desert island our whole life- what would we come away with?

Gumby what pains me most about this conversation is that several years ago half of us who are posting on this thread would have felt badly for the parents and the child which died and could have possibly been saved by a blood transfusion, but we also would have comforted them by saying that they will see that child again in Paradise and that their loyalty to Jehovah was most important...those doctors were sent by Satan to test them and they stayed firm loyal servants of Jehovah...Amen

I certainly do hope that if God, Allah or Q from Star Trek is out there they hold the WT rule makers accountable for the massive bloodguilt they have incurred over the last 100 years.

The last convention I went to in 2003 had a part where different people got up and gave accounts about how they endured physical and emotional abuse for years from their families and mates standing firm for the truth. One east Indian woman recounted every painful outburst and beating which culminated in her drunk husband trying to set her on fire by pouring gas on her and trying to light a match..she got out of the house and he blew himself and the house up....the brothers and sisters clapped for several minutes for her integrity to Jehovah...I felt like crying...all these people endured so much for traditions and teachings of mere men..stupid men to boot.

It sure hurts when family and friends take a stance against you when you make your feeling about the troof known but how can you hold them responsible when you did the same thing at one time and only see through the veil now?

Princess...that was interesting the faith you put in your dad and Steve...I'm not surprised you didn't listen to your mother considering how much she drinks.

I agree with your last post and hope that if I come back as a bug I don't end up eaten on fear factor...is there truly something to look forward to after we die...I guess we all hope so.

touche...I didn't mean to imply that it was rotten to the core, I did state that it does contain many valuable lessons and teachings. I enjoy reading the new testament and in fact it was liberating to read it's messeage without the JW twist on it.

What bothers me is that many people take it to be the word of God and thus use it with god like authority, when you critically examine it that is the core belief which crumbles..at least it did for me.

If that is the case, to me it would be very "biased" for you to even voice an opinion on a book you see as having no value- but I could be wrong. Anyone can be a critic- it takes little effort and even less brains, just the ability to complain or say you don't agree.

I don't think Bradley means the bible has no value or does not contain valuable lessons and information...but is it the word of God and does it contain more than just human reasoning and thoughts?

You must have critically examined the JW religion, do you critically examine a major investment before you get involved...if so why would it be wrong to critically examine the bible.

If it is Gods word and conveyed by him it should stand up to critical examination with minor mistakes being accepted as being the responsibility of the imperfect writers. What if on critical examination it falls apart to it"s very core?

It takes alot more brainpower and much more painful to carefully examine something you hold in high regard than it does to merely accept it at face value.

and i am thrilled that little "diva eva" pulled it out over snooty, poor me amanda, and stuck up i am a real nubian princess yaya.. i might have to put eva on as my avatar .

Eva was beautiful but I liked Yaya...not soley based on her name either.

It was cute when they showed all the pictures of Eva growing up to become the covergirl she is now.
