a couple of years ago i was part of an on-line writers group.

a few of us got together and wrote an anthology of xmas stories called tales of christmas.. i wrote a story about my first xmas after leaving the dubs.

the book is being published.

i have been doing some more investigating, and found that the reason that k-mart is closing down, is because the watchtower has opened it's doors.

for those that haven't seen this web, it is truely a mind blower.

but in any event this organization does alot. They help people even not of their own faith when natural disaster's occur, their traveling speakers go around the world are not paid like clergy, they provide free literature for thier over 6 million members

This organization does do alot, they teach falsehoods to millions, they indoctrinate people with fear and reward tactics and they hide and coverup anything which would put the organization in a bad light.

They do help ones who are not dubs during natural disasters but they make sure to print that in the literature you mention. How many other organizations are there doing many wonderful things around the world on a daily basis without publishing articles to highlight thier good deeds..which BTW is contrary to the principle Jesus layed out.

The figure of over 900 million is a real one...go to freeminds and check out the article from the NY newspaper which had them in the top 10 or 20(can't remember exactly) for corporate earnings.

And remember the literature is not free, it comes with a price! Beleive it or die at armageddon is clearly marked on the price tag!

Whatever makes you happy Bot....At least with a piercing if your not happy with it one day I guess you take the stud out and it grows back over with a tiny scar ...right.

Nipple and genital piercings must be the most painful though......any comments!

I read a book entitled The New World Society which dealt with the NY International conv in the 50's...it's supposed to be a spiritual boost(JW style), but with my blinders off the writer unknowingly makes them look silly by constantly exposing false and changed teachings.

would you attend the funeral/memorial service?

assuming that it would be held in a kh; or even if it wasn't.. this is something that's been on my mind lately; honestly, i'm not sure why.

my parents are both still relatively young; 60 and 61. my dad has been diagnosed with skin cancer but both are otherwise healthy.. i really don't know whether i would; particularly for my father.

I would be there for sure....my only regret is that they never allow family members to say anything.

Instead they take the opportunity to give a fine JW witness to who came and forget to mention anything relevent about the individual other than they were a dub....arhhhh....it really gets my goat.

matty and i have gotten several books lately.

right now we are both reading "30 years a watchtower slave" and "awakening of a jehovahs witness".

both we highly recommend.. anyway in the midst of it all he asked me: when did it turn into a cult?.

Rutherford turned it into a cult in the twenties....It started after Russell died maybe even shortly before that.

Higher Powers, Romans 13:1-7

i was very bored and after reading some stuff from david reed on the flip-flopping of the higher powers in romans 13, i decided to check it out myself in the publications (not that i doubted it, but just wanted to get the full quotes).

i put what i found into a word file for my personal information, but i guess i'll post it here since i have nothing better to do with it.

i guess this has already been covered extensively, but i'll put it here for those that yet haven't seen it.

I do not believe it was a mistake class avenger.....It was Rutherford solidifying his grip on all followers. If you note most publications at this time equate obedience to the Org with obedience to God. One more step they made to become a cult.
