he is awaiting his sentencing hearing in county on the 18th.
he thinks i am a door mat.

One thing for sure is that your a loving mother put in a heart wrenching position, he's a lucky boy to have you and will realize it someday.

just curious about this question today and wondered if anyone else has pondered this.. is worship meant to be a reverent show of appreciation for life that god imparts to individuals?
if that's the case, and someone - by the mere accident of their birth - has a truly crappy life, why should these people worship god or show him "appreciation" for their unfortunate circumstances?
why should anyone who endures hardships worship god, particularly if they have been worshiping god and then all of a sudden a heap of trouble just plops into their lives, unannounced and unwelcome??.
Scully, God is very generous with his deserved worship.
He has been so unclear about it that he now shares his worship with cows and elephants in India, a chubby guy with a beer belly in many other lands and a Polish guy with a white hat that no one even understands anymore.
i really need some good advice.. i have been dissasociated for 7 years--an ex:elder.
i have three children, none of them have spoken to me since i left other than my son saying that they would "welcome me back with open arms if i return, but until then they would have nothing to do with me".
this at the hospital bed where my mother (their grandmother) died less than a month later.. my middle daughter got married 2 years ago and for some strange reason i did not get an invitation.

Why not call your son and ask him if he minds if you go to the Kingdom hall, you heard he was getting married.
If you call him and ask even if you don't feel it's needed it would be a nice gesture, if he says no it will hurt but you'll be following his wishes. It pretty hard to hold a grudge against our children for sticking to what we taught them, think back to when you were a faithful elder and most likely did and said things you now consider hateful.

i went to church on sunday, for my daughter, with my daughter.. i noticed something, they don't count how many are there.
it got me remembering how jw's count count count count at meetings, then put it up on the back bulletin board, then at assemblys and announce it right away, how many went out in service.. more numbers=keeping track of bible studies, placements, family studies..... it goes on and on....why?
i think to guilt members into doing more, if it were all free choice then it would be our decision to come, go, go out in service, etc.

Jez...the elders asked me onetime if I still was hung up on numbers and chronolgy and I told them to pay attention at the meeting and they'll see its the WT who is caught up in numbers and chronology.
Oh and the attendance thing, I always liked to ask him a question as he walked by to make him forget his count...did it three times in a row one Sunday...being evil is fun.
as most are probably aware, on a tuesday evening there has been a regular attempt to send ian (dansk) energy, positive vibes, healing light, and prayers.
i have to say that i've been astounded at the response (in a positive way!)..
ian reports that it's helping .
Ian...this will certainly give new meaning to the phrase "It's that time of the month" although prayer helps with both.
If thinking of you and your family on a regular basis is also helpful to know about besides the regular times mentioned... know this..... your thought of often my friend.

Would she be on the hook for all the lawyers fee's incurred with the first case?
If so she would be in a huge financial hole.
It also seems that it's nearly impossible to win a case against a team of lawyers when criminal charges are involved but Juries and Judges are more willing to award financial compensation...although no compensation can repair a rape victims wounds.

I took RR to mean he is taking a hiatus from the forum, I don't want to see him leave and sent him a pm to that effect. I think a hiatus when your ticked off is better than getting involved in a full blown donnybrook, so good on him.
I would have to say though that he gives out just as many rebukes as he receives, and it maybe impossible to discuss C.T Russell and his beliefs with RR because just like faithful WT believers he takes offense easily to ones who poke holes in his beliefs.
The other option would be for others not to poke holes in his beliefs but simply let threads on the truthful teachings of CTR and the fullfillment of numerous bible prophecies in the First Six Studies of the Scriptures alone. In that case only RR would post on them because no one other than a bible student is going to proclaim that Jesus returned invisibly in 1874 and appointed CTR as the FDS to provide meat in due season and so on.
RR has done excellent research on the WT and it's early years and his posts on such are greatly appreciated.
Maybe a few remarks were said by some which were not called for, when that happens the response given to these remarks often determines what direction the discussion will take.

The real sad thing about the JW lady that dropped by, she truly thinks she's doing what's best for Nancy and that her eternal welfare rests on her accepting and associating with God's visible organization...maybe one day she'll see the truth and understand it never was.
Maybe next time tell her that Nancy discovered that the WTBTS removed the F in the word truth.
