Jael With The Nail..
by Englishman inthis little snippet from the survival book intrigued me somewhat:.
>>>>>>13 some 180 years after hobab decided to go with israel, one of his descendants, a man named heber, was living with his wife, jael, not far from megiddo.
heber had separated himself from the rest of the kenites and had entered into peaceful relations with jabin, a canaanite king who harshly oppressed israel.

by Dansk in.
if it were possible to get a jw to actually listen to us, which three good questions do you reckon might get him/her to sit down and think?

How about these
1) The Wt and also the book of Revelation point out that those who are rewarded with heavenly life must have taught the truth even saying no lie should be found on their lips.
How is it possible for all those including CT Russell and J.F Rutherford to have met these requirements when they taught many things which we now consider to be teachings of the Devil?
2) Revelation says to get out of Babylon the Great which is any religion which has false teachings.
The WT openly admits to teaching many things that were false over the years which by definition then includes them with Babylon the Great.

This year also was associated with expectations for resurrection of faithful pre-Christian servants of God with a view to their serving on earth as princely representatives of the heavenly Kingdom. If that really occurred, it would mean that mankind had entered an era in which death would cease to be master, and millions then living could have the hope of never dying off the earth. What a happy prospect! Though mistaken, they eagerly shared it with others.

Later on, during the years from 1935 through 1944, a review of the overall framework of Bible chronology revealed that a poor translation of Acts
Did the beliefs of Jehovah’s Witnesses on these matters prove to be correct? They certainly did not err in believing that God would without fail do what he had promised. But their time calculations and the expectations that they associated with these gave rise to serious disappointments.
Why should you ignore the bibles counsel and stick to a religion which admits to misleading millions and stumbling millions more with false teaching leading to serious disappointments using Jehovahs name as their authority while telling others to leave their religions for similar reasons?

Do you believe Mary was a virgin?
by JustTickledPink inmy catholic friend and i were talking the other night about the virgin mary.
she doesn't even believe that she was a virgin and she doesn't believe in the immaculate conception.
if you think about it logically today, if you had a fiance that went to visit relatives for a few months and then came back pregnant and told you it was god's child, would you believe it?

Dear Gawd Mulan...
I don't believe in the virgin birth, immaculate conception or that Jesus was God's son.
You unholy blasphemer...the stuff that comes out of your mouth sometimes...It's easy to see Jehovahs spirit is not with you, talking nonsense like that...
*shotgun runs from the computer screaming like a twelve year old girl at a Justin Timberlake concert*

Does dying scare you?
by JH in.
as jw dubs, we were sure we would live forever.
when we left the organization, probably we all started to accept that paradise wouldn't be around the corner, and that we would probably die like everyone else around us.. how do you deal with the fact that you will one day die?

It is the only thing which causes me to have anxiety attacks...small ones...The idea of non-existence sure stands in stark contrast with what I believed as a dub.

afraid of the dark?
by peacefulpete insong of solomon 3:7,8 has solomon so terrified of the "night" that he has 60 valient men with swords drawn circle his bed each night.
the book has shown to be a reworked fertility goddess poem in other threads.
the passage here seems to be betraying the superstition of night demons/monsters that roamed around slaying folks in their sleep.

I would imagine it was not called Wednesday during Solomon lifetime...
I think he coined the term Humpday...considering his 300 wives and 700 concubines.

I THREW THEM OUT OF MY HOUSE.
by bebu inthey came back.
p and her first partner, s (who, by the way, was not the friend of my jw friend after all).
p and s told me that there was no reason to be upset about all the comments given (see below, added information); it was just a matter of misunderstanding ("like john and james, who thought that they were going to be sitting next to jesus.

I bet you hadn't had your morning coffee yet when you let the Y ee H aw W oo H oo protection agency get under your skin...I would have to say if you felt like giving them the boot most others would have had a meltdown.
Bebu...they were protecting their almighty organization...I'm sure some of the things you mentioned sunk in but once they shared your info with others they decided you must be misled and misguided and all their bro and sisters reinforced that to them..boo hoo were all misled, all of mankind except Y ee H aw W oo H oo witnesses.
You accomplished much more in the visits than could ever be expected, I've seen many elders walk away from interesting discussions at the door as soon as the home owner pulled out literature, especially anything from the evil internet.
Now go have that coffee...with a little Tia Maria in it.
