13. Get rid of mid-week meetings. Ain't nobody got time fo' dat! Midweek meetings force people to turn down otherwise good jobs and they prevent people from taking evening classes. The Sunday meeting would include a 20 minute public talk, 20 minutes of "bible highlights" where everyone discusses the weekly bible reading and 20 minutes of the "TMS" for people to practice public speaking. Finally another 20 minutes for elders to give a talk dedicated to local needs or encouragement. The meeting would run 1:30 as the remaining 10 minutes would be used for songs and prayers. No more WT study indoctrination.

Wow. These Italian JWs sound very pissed. I think the organization will have to make serious changes or be toast within a decade. The GB are really digging in their heels and adopting a very hard line stance. It's comforting to see that JWs overseas feel the same way that we do.

I would scrap publications too. All the new releases are just regurgitated stuff.
@jgnat There are a lot of athletically talented JW's. There are plenty of talented JW's period. But most are discouraged from ever using their gifts, because they wouldn't be able to make all the meetings. I also agree with you that elders need to refer people to professionals when it comes to addictions and other mental health issues.

JWism and their curious doctrine of salvation
by Laika inin christian theology there is often a lot of talk about whether we are saved by faith or works, and what exactly those things mean.
this thread is not exactly about that, instead it's about how jws, in their inimitable style, somehow managed to create a doctrine that mixes the worst of both and caused me no end of internal conflict as a jw.. in jw doctrine, life is about an argument between jehovah and satan.
satan said that nobody follows jehovah out of love, but only for what they can personally get out of it.

I'm pretending the GB decided to hire a CEO to combat dwindling membership and overall apathy. Here is a list of the changes I would make to the organization if I were hired as CEO. Feel free to list your ideas (serious and humorous)!
1. Get rid of 1914
2. Get rid of 144,000 being literal.
3. Get rid of judicial comitttees
4. Anyone is free to leave the organization without shunning
5. Shunning is a personal decision, and only to be aplied to unrepentant jerkoffs who are clearly wicked (i.e. serial adulterers, child molesters, repeat drunk drivers, thieves, liars.)
6. Make blood tranfusions a personal decision
7. Report all allegations of child molestation to authorities. Ban all convicted molesters from any positions or participation in FS.
8. Make field service reports anonymous
9. Make conventions fun. Instruction and entertainment. Performances of "Kingdom Songs" by good singers. Obviously new ones would need to be written. Incorporate the new songs into dramas and have bible musicals (for the artsy types). Conventions would also include group activities aimed at making new friends and improving morale. Counseling centers would be availabel with mental health professionals and spiritual counseling from qualified elders.
10. Drop the vitriol aimed at those who pursue higher education.
11. Elders are instructed to help spiritually sick ones with addictions or other problems instead of Df'ing them.
12. Most importantly, create an NCAA Div. I university for JW's and win a national championship in football and basketball.

It's becoming very apparent that the GB is getting desperate. Jesus never used FOG. He taught people to serve God out of gratitude for God's undeserved kindness. JWs are taught to only serve god with a date in view. This causes many to make unwise life decisions such as foregoing education and not saving money. This is contrary to what Jesus taught at Acts 1:7. It's not for us to know when the end will come. Our only job is to make sure that we are ready by being a good person and treating others right.

The Christian Hope--Is it in Heaven or on Earth?
by DS211 inso is the christian hope in heaven or on earth?.
in acts chapter 1the question was raised: 6 so when they had assembled, they asked him: lord, are you restoring the kingdom to israel at this time?
7 he said to them: it does not belong to you to know the times or seasons that the father has placed in his own jurisdiction.. notice jesus never said thered be a change in venue, just that it wasnt up to them to know when..... so what is there from both sides?

Based on Revelation 7, Matthew 24 and 1 Thes 4, it seems that Christ's followers who survive the tribulation will be taken to heaven. Then at armageddon as mentioned in Revelation 19, God destroys his enemies (the kings of the earth and those who persecuted his followers). Following Armageddon the nations still exist as mentioned in Revelation chapter 20. Christ's followers who were taken to heaven judge the nations for 1000 years. Following the 1000 years and the destruction of Satan and all evildoers, in chapter 21 we see a new heaven and a new earth and new Jerusalem coming down out of heaven. Then all the nations recieve God's blessings Rev 21:3,4.
Based on what I've read in the Bible there is only one hope for Christians, the heavenly one. The earthly hope is for the meek of the nations who turn to God during the 1000 years and pass the final test.
It would make no sense to make Christians prove faithful through the great tribulation and then have to pass the final test as well. That's double jeopardy. Once you pass the great tribulation you inherit life, the first resurrection. In a similar vein, the final test is for those of the nations to prove that they are faithful to God.

Armageddon will come before the overlapping warranties expire. The warranty on your new dishwasher will overlap with the warranty on the TV you plan to purcahse in 3 years.

I think its spelled Cua. He's a cool guy. Loves to laugh at his own jokes. But, he seems to be reasonable and wants elders to be more humble and approachable.

You should write a book called Examinining the Watchtower Comments Daily. Each day you provide commentary on their articles the same way they attempt to provide commentary on the bible. It's been months since I've read the Daily text. I just read the bible on my own now. If I want additional commentary then I'll use Google. I still use JW.org, but I now read several different commentaries. It's amazing how much more enjoyable the Bible is when you approach it with an open mind.
